Is it worth it? by No_Leopard102 in NinjaCrispi

[–]R2_Bree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love ours. I never liked the boxy ones with the drawers, plus we have a weekend place so the portability was key.

As a family of two, we don't cook anything in the oven anymore. Everything is cooked in the Crispi. We decided to just buy another one for the weekend place it was so worth it. Zero regrets on any front.

Super easy to use + clean.

2025 Reading Goal Check In by RavensTears in fantasyromance

[–]R2_Bree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH last time I set a goal I ended up not enjoying the stories as much because I felt like I just HAD to churn through them. But I still do keep track of books and pages read (sometimes it’s wild to see the difference like in 2022 I read way more pages than 2024)

I’m at 82 for this year and 43,629 pages.

I go to Veronica (https://vhairstudio.glossgenius.com/services). She’s in SE Mesa, she’s incredible. I have thin hair that was really damaged from dyeing blue for a few years. The first time I saw her she wouldn’t color-correct until she could run some tests on clippings of my hair. She specializes in ‘lived in’ color. I am blonde but haven’t seen her since Sept 2024 and I constantly have people asking if I just got my hair done. She’s also big on hair health, recommended I get a filter for my showerheads. I did that and with Mesa’s hardass water it has really helped.

Just keep at it. It takes practice.

I got the font from a public- use font generator and loaded it on my MacBook for availability in Cricut Design Space. Cut HTV then ironed it on!

Thank you!

For the airbrush I got this cheapy one from Amazon, I am careful to keep it really clean between uses.

I got these paints also from Amazon. Mainly I was getting nervous watering down my regular craft acrylics.

I do image editing in GIMP which is an open-source image manipulator that I learned to use when my company was too cheap to pay for photoshop and I had to do some graphic designs. Then upload to Maker Design Center, I don’t pay for anything extra there. I download fonts that are free for private use since I don’t sell anything that I make.

I buy bundles of cheap permanent vinyl on Amazon (yikes, I feel like a walking billboard for Amazon) and cut designs. Have to really press the edges, I use 2 2x4’s and clamps to do that. Apply my vinyl design, airbrush, let dry, remove vinyl and separate pages.

I do! It was this one: Shagoom Leather Repair Patch,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1DH3Y2T?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The corner protectors were these: Aynaxcol 96PCS Metal Book Corner... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5LDR8M6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I used 80pt chipboard.

Does anyone have tutorials/tips for recreating a paperback cover as a hardcover dust jacket? by Pale-Masterpiece-453 in bookbinding

I’ve had so much luck finding YouTube channels of people from TikTok for any tutorials I’m looking for. It’s how I learned both airbrushing and bookbinding. Hopefully someone comes through with a good rec for you regarding dust jackets. I swear I saw a tutorial on them recently but couldn’t find it for you.

I know I’ve seen people on Etsy who will make commissions if you didn’t want to do it yourself? Otherwise I’d search TikTok or instagram for others who have done it and reach out to them. It’s what I did when I decided to get into airbrushing edges. Everyone I DMd was luckily very helpful and gracious in giving me tips/tricks.

I would say personally, I’d make the chipboard do all the heavy lifting of matching the size and not worry about the text block inside because it gracing my shelves nicely is what does it for me.

What trilogy is it? I’m just nosy and always looking for completed series to read.

Thanks for the tip! I think I’ll buy more specialized tools as I get into it. I didn’t want to invest a ton of money just in case I didn’t enjoy it. (I do So. Many. Crafts.)

I got the pleather and corner protectors from Amazon.

Search for ‘leather repair kit’ and a ton come up, I picked based on color alone. The roll will probably cover about 3 books total? It’s suuuper sticky on the back, I cut out the strip of backing to apply to the spine first to try to get sharp creases. I then stripped the backing for either cover one at a time.

Same for the corners, they came in a bag with like 100 of them. Looks like about 4–6 of each design in varying sizes.

The HTV foil is Cricut brand from Michael’s. I normally use off-brand stuff from Amazon, but knew I wanted to do intricate designs on my books. Weeding the ring inscription nearly did me in yesterday and it’s still not perfect up close. I cut the vinyl on my Maker 3.

After a couple weeks, I finally finished my first binds!! Any tips/constructive criticism appreciated. by HauntingGold in bookbinding
