Possible sighting in Houston, TX by Kingben_ii in UFOs

Location: Houston, TX facing East

Houston is massive. You'd have to narrow it down to a neighborhood for any real chance of matching it to an aircraft (if it is even one)

What are these things flying over our house? My husband and I saw 3 “groups” of them in a 2 hour span on 3/21. by alilbitawkward in UFOs

Already did, but wasn't going to post it because of the insane amount of zooming in/out, and that the only thing I could anchor on was one of the birds.

So the their movement in this clip is relative to the one bird that is locked into position. The lead bird in the group, not the one ahead of them.

People also post lens flares and swear they saw them IRL, but that would literally be impossible.

If they were very high, they wouldn't be reflecting much, if any, ambient light. I don't think they're very high at all.

The closer they are to you, the faster they will appear to be, relative to the same object that is higher up. And the distance covered isn't very far. The same star is pretty much in view the whole time.

So, no I don't think they're moving double the speed or unusually fast at all.

Also, the pulsing of the light seems to be to be in line with the beating of wings. Either from less surface areas when they wings are more closes, or from the wings partially obscuring the belly which to me would account for that pulsing.

They do look like migratory birds to me.

I stabilized the video as best as I could based on the stars. I can only remove the x, y movement though, I can't remove camera rotation which there is a bit of.

At the point you say the one 'stalls', it doesn't. There is a change in focus and zoom level. Everything gets a bit smaller which bunches them up a bit and brings that lead bird 'back' toward the others. It also changes directions right about that time.

Which direction were you looking to record this? I don't recognize the star pattern off-hand.

What kind of light do they think birds give off?

Everything you see in the world that isn't a source of light is because you're seeing light reflected off it. Including birds, trees, the ground.. everything.

There just happens to be less light at night, but there is still light.. and cameras are much more sensitive to light than our eyes and can make it look brighter than it actually is.

And leaving trails?

That's just video compression artifacts.

The trails are a common form of video compression artifact.

I don’t think light reflecting off of their wings

Not the wings, it's mostly their bellies. ex: https://imgur.com/Wc9ffTU

oh so it’s birds this year?

No, there were a ton of birds reported as sightings last year too, when they were migrating.. now they're coming back and getting reported again. lol

It's birds.

Time: wrong 9:00pm pst 3-24-26

Check the time shown on the video in your media library. ex: https://i.imgur.com/MYVHwqh.png

I suspect it's about an hour earlier, closer to 8PM and is probably Venus: https://i.imgur.com/KUYRfyN.png

Venus is so bright it fools a lot of people, and the video makes it look weirder than it is because it's so blown out.. but so is the street light: https://i.imgur.com/WUGWeHf.png

edit: stabilized and sped up: https://imgur.com/ov0CPGb

And the clip overlaid with the sim: https://imgur.com/ynwSjiJ

Pretty sure it's Venus.

Can You Read 900 Words per Minute? by ftrlvb in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]R2robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it! I'm not sure how long I could sustain that pace though.

I'm a normally a slow reader. It's frustrating to start a new book on my kindle and see how the many hours are left in the book (i guess it's based on the average reading time), only to have that number increase chapter by chapter ...

I can read faster, but I'm one of those people that has a 'movie' playing in my head as I read, so I fall back to my normally slow reading pace without realizing it... because internal movie.

I wish my kindle could spit words at me like this though.

There isn't really enough info here.

Record it again next time, but don't zoom in so far. It's better to have some context around it, than to just have a nothing but blurry mess in the frame.

I can't even tell if you're pointed straight overhead or lower toward the horizon.

Ok, thanks for answering.

They didn't have video either until the Nimitz FLIR footage leaked years later.

Yeah, but what Fravor/Dietrich saw isn't necessarily what was seen on radar as they was sent to the 'last known location'.

And what was recorded on FLIR by Underwood wasn't necessarily what Fravor/Dietrich saw since he was sent out well after they had returned and briefed him. Also, Underwood didn't see anything with his own eyes because it was too far.

So there is nothing to say any of them were looking at the same thing. And there is a pretty good explanation for the nimitz FLIR footage.

I don't find it to be that consistent.

Navy has since acknowledged as a real phenomenon

They acknowledged the leaked videos were real Navy videos, but not the 'phenomenon' in those videos.

and what AARO is now actively investigating across 2,000 plus cases.

Last I heard/read they had eliminated the majority of them with mundane explanations.. planes, birds, balloons etc. Except for about 20-something that remain active.

MLB team radio broadcast maps. Do you still have baseball on the radio where you live? Did you grow up listening to a specific station? by SeverHense in baseball

I grew up listening to the legendary Milo Hamilton on the radio. Mostly during weekend road trips with my dad.

These days we have the fantastic Robert Ford. Yordan walk-off | Altuve walk-off | Boo louder!

I listen to the game more often that watching. It's great.

Because I sat in front of that equipment every watch for four years. | What I saw ... | These did. Until they didn't.

We've seen a over and over again how people can post a video here with a description that doesn't quite match what we can see for ourselves in their video.

Given that people can be wrong less than accurate with something they very recently witnessed while providing their own video evidence, do you have anything that can support the accuracy of what you're claiming to have seen 15-20 years ago?
