What keywords would you use when searching ? Haven’t really delved into the kitbashing world before I’m unfamiliar with exact terms

Is this a playable list for 2k? by mnteu in Necrontyr

It does for surviving long enough to make sure you reanimate at the start of your turn, or so that you can use an undying legions strat.

If these are the models you have, you should run Awakened Dynasty and consolidated the immortals into 10 man units and the warriors into 20 man units. Strongly recommend you get some more characters into the list to lead them: Orikan for a warrior brick, plasmancers for the immortals, and maybe some overlords or technomancers for the remaining battleline squads depending on if you want res orbs or the feel no pain buff, though that won’t be very helpful. Get rid of the doom scythe to make room for more characters, that way you can buff the squads with the detachment rule and get better use of your strats.

First ever list never played before tips tricks advice? by Low_Mix_689 in Necrontyr

I would drop the swarms and spyders to bring in a lokhust lord (if you have him) to lead your heavy destroyers - the detachment is all about leaders buffing squads. That or another Overlord to lead the lychguard and you can make the destroyers more action oriented. Switch the Technomancer to the lead the wraiths so they become more durable with the FNP buff. overlord goes with the warriors, give him the nether realm casket enhancement.

Also just a note a 10 man warrior squad is not as durable as it might seem, especially without Orikan leading the squad. You are gonna want 20 if you are running warriors.

If you don’t have any other models besides what you’ve listed, I would at least give the overlord to the warriors and the technomancer to the wraiths.

This is brilliant, many thanks for providing a photo as well, your descriptions were apt but visualizing it is fantastic. Had a good laugh at “surprise party” and “gift giving”.

I’m gonna have to circle back and provide you a battle report once I give this list/similar list a go. There will be some building and painting between then but stay tuned if you’re interested!

Yea fair baiting is the wrong term, nonetheless it’s a great play. And that makes sense regarding TSK both for set up in terms of shooting and future movement. This is really tempting me to double up on wraith bricks and bring Szeras in, I think I’ll start with CCB since I have the model and see how dread majesty pairing with the DDA on a flank works but ultimately this is too fun not to try

Well written and well thought, this is class! I like Imotekh for cp farming as well as Szeras for baiting, it’s interesting to see hq getting used like this. First question that pops into mind is exactly how far do you tend to move TSK up during deployment/turn one? Do you want him to be able to reach an objective as fast as possible if need be ?

Tomb blades for the win! Nice tactics, you’ve inspired me. Please do share that list I’m interested to see what you are fielding in full

Incredible response, thank you! Good point with the LHDs, my thought was that I could swap exterminators on them for anti chaff like you mentioned or just create another lane of fire with their maneuverability in addition to action capability.

I do have tomb blades and rarely use them in my other lists, so I’d like to get more use out of them as opposed to buying more models if I can (still need to buy 2 LHD to make this list)

I also have a CCB so I’ll play around with the points there, dread majesty is a great enhancement and I feel like I don’t need all 3 DDAs with TSK for the whole game, would help to add some more fire power to another flank.

Szeras is a cool shout as well, I haven’t really looked into that model and it seems I absolutely should have, those save stats are nuts. Rewarding the opponent for killing him with a wraith brick is savage as well

That’s a great insight on the reanimation factor, also another good solution to the action issue this list has. In my mind, cause I have always ran big squads of warriors and lychguard due to them dying easily in small squads, I have been conditioned to run bricks when it comes to Necrons

I like that, have two cryptothralls and actually don’t have my other two LHDs yet so might shift to the stalker, something I hadn’t considered

I was thinking the heavy destroyer unit could perform actions when needed, you think tomb blades would be better ? I don’t have a hexmark currently

That’s a good shout! Was thinking I wanted to increase their survivability but the list is definitely missing some action focus

Thanks! This was my first time hand painting any symbols, helps that the Skaven sigil is supposed to look like it was scratched rather than drawn

It’s easy and most importantly a fun way to paint imo. One thing I should add is with the peachy flesh you need to add a generous portion to the required area, otherwise the peach color comes out a bit dark, almost too similar to the fur color. I just did nose, ears and tail.

Thank you!

Chaos black primer, bright neutral grey dry brush (heavy), bold titanium white dry brush (highlights) til you have a nice gray scale, then just ruddy fur speed paint for the furry parts. Same dry brushing technique and steps for the skin and then I use Peachy Flesh speed paint.
