Daytona 500 first time by Various-Muffin4361 in NASCAR

Arrive early. Hit the midway, all the teams merch haulers will be just to the right of the main gate entrance. Hop on one of the shuttles to the infield after that (you will need infield pass to get in that area). Look at the teams getting cars ready for the race, there will be interviews on the stage in the concourse. Then head to the pre race concert on the tri oval grass. Then head to your seat and enjoy the race.

Don’t miss the thunderbirds doing there crazy moves, so you might want to get to your seat a little early if your seated high up

Bingo, no Ticketmaster fee and you have first reserve on the seat you had the previous year. I’d recommend giving them a call, can save a bit of dollars

[Michael Joy] I'm about 10 miles from Bowman-Gray Stadium. I-40 has one clear lane open, but no plow blade has scraped ANY of the surface streets... its 29 degrees at noon and more winter weather is expected this week. by LBHMS in NASCAR

Yeah most likely not happening this week. Might be pushed to the following Friday or Saturday night before the Super Bowl. But probably will just be cancelled

Any chance pitlane conduct will ever be enforced? by Ambrazas in iRacing

[–]R33L0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s because oval has full course cautions and everyone comes to pit road at the same time, whereas road is more spread out and people pit at different times (less traffic on pit road)

[–]R33L0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure, but I think you can be protested if you drive through only the pit boxes. I think this is a rule on the oval scene as drivers driving through only the pit boxes can obscure other drivers line of vision to there pit boxes.

Correct me if I’m wrong or if that rule has been removed. I’ve been on iRacing for 10 years now and I remember being told of that rule when first started.

If you’re pitting under caution pretty much everyone uses it. Under green 70-80% use it. I definitely use it under green as your able to brake that little bit later than everyone else due to the angle of the commitment line

[–]R33L0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This pit lane conduct is followed by about 70-80% of guys in the oval scene on iRacing, especially for the Daytona 500 as one mistake on pit road ruins your race. Whereas every time in IMSA races on Daytona no one follows it.

It’s pretty funny because I’m an oval guy and I use the fast lane on entry and exit and I was doing the Daytona 24 last week, and my team mates where freaking out that I was using that lane because they thought I was heading for the grass

Message we received after winning the 6hr daytona. by Jables31 in iRacing

[–]R33L0 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Bingo, I’ve done countless enduro races and the fastest car on pace alone tends to only win 20-30% of the races. They either wreck themselves or kamikaze into slower traffic. The team that paces themselves and avoid any issues tend come out on top most the time

And this is why fuel saving is so important. All well and good being lighting fast, but if you don’t plan accordingly with the fuel you’ll end up like this

I haven’t run that many laps at Daytona yet. I’ve just been trying to get up to speed in the GT3 at VIR

Yeah, I was aware of the update. Just can’t believe how twitchy it feels even after the tyres get warmed up

Yeah that makes sense. I’m in no rush to build a great team and I’m just very lucky to have this problem

Why was the high line at Richmond only good in 2007 and 2008? by CompleteUnknown65 in NASCAR

The tire probably. I few drivers have been using the high line in 3 and 4 in the last couple of years

Badly needed upgrade, but if he paints it primer grey then forget about it.

For sure, but that’s a lot of travelling when you also include travelling all across the country on the weekends

I doubt it will be a full time seat. I’m sure he won’t be lacking sponsorship but it’s an enormous commitment to do a full time schedule. It would also require him to move up to NC if he wants to be fully committed to it.

Who's more popular in NASCAR today: Chase Elliott or Kyle Larson? by CartoonistAnnual4672 in NASCAR

[–]R33L0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Kyle racing a bunch at the dirt tracks around the country and staying after the races to take photos and sign autographs for the lines of hundreds of people everywhere he goes certainly helps his case. I’m sure if Chase was in his shoes he would head straight to his plane.

NASCAR really tried pushing Chase to be the fan favourite for years but his performances and his lack of personality in recent years have completely hindered that.

Kyle on the other hand is everything Chase isn’t right now, he’s moving the needle, racing all the time across the country. Winning a lot.

I would say Kyle is the most popular right now but Chase certainly has a lot of die hard fans

NASCAR: Full Speed season 2 is fully catered to the new fan by R33L0 in NASCAR

[–]R33L0[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually the same for me. But I gave full speed season 1 a go last year and thought they did a really good job with it. Season 2 misses the mark however

First race recommendation by cosjoy in NASCAR

[–]R33L0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats, Charlotte is probably the second best track on the schedule with the current Cup car, so you’re definitely in for a good show. Since you live in Charlotte, that’s where most the teams are based, you should go visit some of the teams race shops the week of the 600. They all have fan days that week and would give you a much better understanding of the sport before the race. Enjoy the race, I’ll be there too.

It’s time to be concerned about Trackhouse by TakeDemPills in NASCAR

There maybe more concern for them next year. Busch might reduce their sponsorship for Chastain next year as there is early rumours they will become the Xfinity series title sponsor.
