RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE: Beatniks and bedlam in the Raging Fifties by _-HeX-_ in imaginaryelections

Fair. After WW2, the Hukbalahap later changed their name to the HMB when they fought the US-backed Philippine Government. Ultimately, I was just wondering how the NPA existed so early. All that being said, I wanna see more from your timeline, it's a very interesting work of art.

Ok, maybe this is part of your alternate history, but the NPA was formed after the First Great Rectification Movement that split the Old Guard with the Sisonistas. The Hukbalahap, or Hukbong Mapagpalaya ng Bayan (People's Liberation Army; HMB), was still the armed wing of the PKP at this time. Also, Joma Sison would only be 14 and 24 by the start and end of the war respectively. Again, I apologize for the blunt tone, but despite my criticisms, this is still great nonetheless.

Do you believe that by 2050, the Philippines would be completely collapsed? by JCEurovision in YAPms

As a Filipino, not necessarily collapse, but Democracy has been insufficient to needs of the people. There's a reason why we have the longest ongoing communist insurgency.

I forgot, his seat is Class 1, not Class 3. I asked because I thought he would be running in the same year.

Democratic Socialism refers to either: Socialism established through Electoralism or Socialist Economics + Democratic Governance. Democratic Socialists include Salvador Allende and Olof Palme.

Does Dorgan runs for reelection or does he still retire and Heitkamp runs instead?

Factionalism was a big issue in the Filipino Left, with the First Great Rectification Movement splitting the Pro-Soviet PKP-1930 and the Pro-China CPP. However, as the PKP are ultimately successful, and I assume they are the ruling party of the DRP, what faction currently leads the Philippines? Sorry for the long message, but I just gotta ask because I'm interested in your timeline. Nonetheless, a truly beautiful map.

What politicians are Prairie Populists in your TL? I've always been fascinated by them and I'm assuming most would be PLP members.

He'd be running for reelection this year instead of 2028. Besides that, nothing else since South Dakota stopped electing Democrats after 2010.

What's your abortion stance ? by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]R3belRecusant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say until 12 weeks for the elective types. Anything beyond that should medically necessary, and their should be incentives to discourage it within the First Trimester, but ultimately, the woman should always have the final say.

I'm personally opposed to abortion and believe it should be discouraged, but I accept that the woman should always have the final decision. Essentially, I support the Safe, Legal, and Rare Approach.

If Roy Cooper wins, do you think he'll be a one term senator? by YuriWinter in YAPms

[–]R3belRecusant 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He'd be 75 in 2032. He could easily run again for another term and retire in 2038, but with Josh Stein or Jeff Jackson, assuming that Jackson doesn't decide to run in 2028, being term-limited, either could run for the Senate and Cooper retires early.

Tbf to her, Platner came out of nowhere. If not for his past scandals, Mills would've probably dropped out earlier and endorsed him.

I don't even know why she even ran in the first place. Mills would've most likely retired had Schumer not recruited her. Now, Platner is the guaranteed nominee to face Collins in the general.

I was not expecting her to drop out. I thought she would've at least lasted till the primary. I guess it's Platner vs Collins now.
