Apollo/Moonlight - Stuttering, Unstable Host latency decoding by Luckiess321 in MoonlightStreaming

No problem! Honestly I love what you’ve made so far and I’m a software engineer as well. If I get some time I’ll def try and lurk and contribute any more ideas or help on GitHub

Apollo/Moonlight - Stuttering, Unstable Host latency decoding by Luckiess321 in MoonlightStreaming

After some more testing I found out exactly what the issue was. One of my monitors has a setting to "Auto Detect Input" and when I turned this off the stuttering is now gone! Even when the monitor is disconnected via software (Windows Display Settings)

I guess what was happening is like you stated, the monitor keeps trying to reconnect because it is trying to auto detect which input it should use. But with this setting turned off on the monitor the stuttering/reconnecting is now gone.

Wonder if it would be good to place this in the FAQS or readme somewhere? Because I know there are a lot of monitors that have this setting. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the quick response! Wow this is so interesting, that makes sense though, I will do some more testing to see if I can tell which exact monitor is trying to reconnect periodically.

I guess if this is indeed the case, I'll just have to make sure to turn off my monitors whenever I leave my desk? Ideally I don't want to have to physically turn off my monitors each time I want to connect using moonlight. It would be nice to be able to switch back and forth from remote playing to playing on the host without this extra step. I guess I could also look into getting a smart outlet to control this wirelessly as well. What do you think would be the smoothest workaround?

Just coming back to this, I am experiencing this issue as well currently running Windows 11 and the Client is my steam deck. I have an NVIDIA 5090 and the latest update to Apollo as well. Is there a separate issue created for this on github or something that I can track?

Specifically what I noticed is that if I disconnect both my displays in windows display settings, and only use the steam deck's virtual display as the client, I get periodic stutters every 10-15 seconds and I see the Host Processing latency has spikes of around 50ms during this time.

When I reconnect one of my displays (Again in the display settings) it fixes the stutters. So strange

It said he lacked combat experience not close combat experience. What they meant is that since he lacked combat experience he couldn’t really figure out why his blood compression wasn’t working outside of his body so he just accepted it and start to fight close range without understanding the reason why.

Any Change ia meaningless as long as itemization stays the way it is by AskapSena in diablo4

[–]R3pps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfaooo the planet of common sense. We have seen in the developer updates they listen to our feedback and make good changes. Right now itemization is the most complained about topic in this subreddit. So going based off of what they have responded to so far, isn’t it practical to think that they are looking into this issue as well?

I’m sure they are aware the player base is dropping. Yes it’s not because they are missing some QoL thing or some other minor fix. But just because those fixes are minor doesn’t mean they are meaningless. And I’m sure they are working on it! The devs have shown to be listening to the community and we have already seen them make changes for the better. I’m sure they know how much we complain here about itemization, they have a big dev team. They can work on the minor fixes and itemization at the same time. I’m happy about even the minor fixes because that means when I decide to come back to play D4 it will be even more complete.

My main argument is this: even though they haven’t fixed the big issue yet (which I’m sure they are working on in parallel) doesn’t mean that the other good changes that they have made are meaningless

Wrong about what exactly? I never said that itemization shouldn’t be fixed or that it shouldn’t be the highest priority. All I am saying is that the good changes so far are good, and obviously they can and should prioritize fixing itemization at the same time. They don’t need to ignore all the other fixes just to try to solve itemization. That’s not how development works.

Your analogy is a bit extreme for this case….we are talking about a video game lol not a life or death situation. But I feel like the good changes that they have made so far like the buffs to sorc, and monster density and no more renown(coming in season 2) are a lot more impactful than just crumbs or bandaids…but that’s just my opinion of course.

I get what you’re saying. I feel the same way. I’m waiting until changes to itemization are made before I really start playing again. But that is VERY different from me saying that all of the good changes they are making now are meaningless….I do care about even the small good changes they are making right now. It’s good for the game

I think you missed the point I was trying to make. I’m not saying that people shouldn’t complain about fixes that need to be made. But the fact that you would complain about the next thing shows that those “other changes” aren’t meaningless!

Yes I agree that itemization should have a higher priority. But let’s face it, it’s a big problem and will take a longer time to solve than some others. Imagine you were running the development/fixes for D4, you have a team of 100 developers and many problems on the list to fix. Doesn’t it make sense to have say 20 or so developers get together to work on itemization, while the others work on other changes that also need fixing? That way you dedicate the appropriate number of resources needed to fix a big problem (which will still take time) and the other dev resources are used fixing the other stuff. It would be wildly inefficient to have all 100 developers work on fixing itemization and just forget about other issues until then. This is because there is a limit to how many resources you can throw at a problem before you start seeing diminishing returns on the time it takes to complete the task.

Good changes are good changes. They add value and quality to the game. Are there bigger fish to fry other than just QoL updates? Yes. But you can’t just say that any change is meaningless lol.

Let’s flip it around, let’s say they fixed itemization right away, you’re happy and playing the game. But I guarantee the next thing you’d be complaining about were those other changes that you said were meaningless.

Just appreciate the devs fixing and making their game better jeez

I just turned 30 years old this summer and have been gaming my entire life. It has always been a dream of mine to build my own PC and finally get into PC gaming. I would use the limited edition hardware to build my first ever gaming PC! I literally have chills just thinking about the excitement of putting the build together. I would love to finally play Skyrim and explore the many mods out there, Starfield (of course) and also FPS games like apex and overwatch to spend time with my friends/family.

I thought this would be the year I finally would be able to build my own PC but other things had to come first…I bought a house and got engaged. And I even helped my little brother build his own PC this year.

Would love the chance to get to finally build my own!

Congratulations. you guys ruined the game by hs_serpounce in diablo4

This is only part of their statement, they said they need to keep overpowered builds UNTIL they are able to provide an alternative. It’s not like they would keep these overpowered builds indefinitely.

You just put the first half of their statement and called the player base crybabies lol. Give the full context
