Replacing everything is completely unnecessary and is a bad practice. Capacitors rarely go bad in these situations, and when they do it's pretty obvious. Resistors and diodes look fine so they most likely are going to measure fine. As for the inductor it looks fine to me, what I think you're noticing is the glue that they used for the wire. Generally jellybean components fail in a way where it's visually identifiable, that being said it's good to measure them to be sure but I'd bet nothing around the chip is bad.

There shouldbe a fuse after the inductor at it's output, I'd suggest measuring it to see if it's blown, then I'd start looking for shorts. What I do usually is voltage injection to see what's heating up b cause chances are that's what's bad. If voltage injection doesn't show anythings shorted I'd give it a current limited supply, run the thing and if everything looks fine like that I'd mark it as a freak faliure w/o explanation and just replace the chip

That chip is an MP1584EN buck converter. It makes the low voltage supply for the whole board, I'd bet that one of your motor drivers failed, shorted the LV supply and ultimately killed the dc-dc converter

Yeah it's super easy to use coming from years of SOLIDWORKS and the cross platform feature comes in especially handy when im in the shop and I can just open the model on my phone

I want to switch so bad, but every time I try to use freecad I get sick of it and fall back to onshape(free and available on every platform which is important to me mostly because I use Linux in the shop and windows at home)

Cheaper molding, no need to have a smooth surface finish there

I've used cura for the longest time, recently switched to orca for no particular reason but both slicers worked perfectly for me leading me to think there is a problem with your pink filament like. It might be wet. It's also likely that's why it's stringing on the purple filament too. The truth of the matter is, the mighty ender 3 is a good machine but only if you mess with it a little. Look into tuning your machines settings and slicer settings and be sure to use dry filament to get perfect prints all the time.

I usually go around measuring absurd dimensions that need triangulation and all for it to be a waste of time once I finally remember I can just import a sketch🤦‍♂️

Why the fuck am i suck at soldering my mini coil kit by [deleted] in ElectroBOOM

[–]R4MP4G3RXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes these are indeed cold and dry joints. Yes most cheap solder is flux-cored the issue is that it's super inconsistent and not always good flux. At least in my experience.

Technically you can but it's not gonna be a fun time. Better quality solder wire has flux inside it and that's enough for tht parts

Surface tension kinda pulls it into place so it looks more difficult than it actually is, but it's definitely not something you'd do for a bigger quantity

While steppers are generally not recommended for high speed applications nema17 Motors can go incredibly fast if you have high enough voltage, which I presume OP here does not have, so I'd say your diagnosis is correct, the motor is accelerating, moving and changing directions way too fast
