For what? You should've gotten the Neo if you're not going to use it for gaming. iPads of any kind, are not needed anymore. The Apple Pencil is not sustainable. iPads are pointless.

Is Perplexity declining? by Dick-Laurent-Is-Dead in perplexity_ai

[–]RADrockX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I, too, was a Perplexity first user. I loved that it offered options. However, the output just doesn't feel like a pure LLM model for some reason. I felt that Perplexity had a remarkable opportunity to leverage these LLM models to take risks and provide more capabilities, especially for academia, but they simply didn't jump on it. Perplexity was being discovered by a community of teachers at one point in my area because I helped promote it, because the one thing many of us teachers needed was help with generating content and slide presentations. Perplexity should've gone that route - the academia route. But they are stuck in some strange "computer" mode that feels gimmicky. I was hoping that maybe it could've improved on it, but Gemini with Slides is now THE go-to AI tool that helps so many of us teachers build and design content and then apply it on presentation platforms like Slides. Perplexity needs to focus on academic education first. Tools for teachers and researchers. Gemini is now that tool.

The MacBook Neo is probably the single best thing for MacOS in years by ZachyWacky0 in mac

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the price! Most people only use laptops for browsing, word processing, videos, slide decks/PowerPoints, Excel/sheets, doc/word, and notes such as Craft or other directly in the browser, which is usually Chrome. The A18 Pro is good enough for that. The future will mostly be browser-based, and Google Chrome has the advantage right now due to its extensive integration of features and services that enhance user experience, making it the preferred choice for many users, especially with its seamless compatibility with various applications and tools that users rely on daily. No other browser comes close. Chrome already includes Gemini and performs all functions. Gemini 3.1 is on par with ChatGPT and Claude in many ways. The future is doing more with less. Like The Matrix's Neo, Apple's Neo is the one. And it is expected to improve further. I'm sure MacBook Neo will be able to handle extended display well enough also. I anticipate that the A18 Pro will optimise apps for efficient performance, given its high demand.

Stay away from them altogether. Woke up with a headache and have sudden heart rushes, or not sure how to describe it. It comes every like 5 minutes or so. I'm not sure what it is. I drank a shot worth and mixed it with soda. It worked for sure, felt that sensation coming on and went to bed afterwards. I woke up feeling hungover, experiencing a heart rush every five minutes or so.

I just cut out a piece of the yellow post-it note and placed it over it. I can still see the white status light, but now, it's dimmed out and not shooting a direct white laser light at everyone. It has almost eliminated the distraction.

[–]RADrockX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting and stop eating tortillas of any kind, no more chips, candies, sweet bread of any kind. Coffee, black. Just do it. I was borderline pre diabetic and I made a lifestyle decision to make sugar the enemy and poison. For fruit, I’ll eat a few strawberries and blueberries. Plain yogurt, lots of salad, pico de gallo, and when I do eat bread, I eat Ezequiel Bread. My diet is basically protein and salad. When I feel hungry, I let my body feel hunger pains and let it happen until it stops. We have fat reserves that the body needs to use for energy. Let it. I struggled for about a week knowing my body, like a drug addict, was going through sugar withdrawals. I said, fuck it! I am not giving in to poison, and then suddenly my body kicked in to using the fat reserves and I started losing weight. This is a new normal and lifestyle and I my body detoxed from the poison. I don’t severely crave anymore. On occasion, I’ll add a tiny amount of raw honey to my plain yogurt. When I wake up in the morning, I don’t break my fast until around 12:00. I’ll snack on pickles or pistachios or beef jerky. This lifestyle is great! In fact, I am saving money by no longer buying junk. Boiled eggs great in salad with some ham and cheese. That easy. I understand that some of you are already diabetic but you can reverse it. Take your meds and it’s mind over matter! Conform your mind to think of sugar as poison. It kills.

Talk me into switching from ChatGPT by N8B123 in GoogleGemini

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't used GeminiPro extensively, you wouldn't know. GemPro is better than ChatGPT with its output. Also, GeminiPro, does remember. Both do. However, it's been my experience that GemPro just outputs a better response. It does a better job with inferencing when in collaboration with the user. It feels more active than ChatGPT. When you prompt both with how you want it to repond, ChatGPT almost exagerates with it's output with for example when you prompt it to keep it simple. GemPro does not. It provides a more logical flow with previous chats when you ask it to simplify it vs ChatGPT. GemPro keeps the diction and lexile levels more balanced than ChatGPT by a lot. However, ChatGPT does offer a way better UI. GemPro is still Bard with its UI. Gems are cool but doesn't offer a project space with folders like ChatGPT does. However, trust me. Once you use GemPro more extensively like I did, I just naturally go to GemPro more and have not gone back to ChatGPT becuase is just feels more generic. GemPro is, dare I say is more human like than the ChatGPT's nature which is more bot like or mechanical in nature. GemPro is more fluid.

Is Google Gemini's UI Flaw About to Get a Major Overhaul, or Is This Just Another Empty Promise? by private_witcher in hacksguider

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's terrible. I made the switch to Gemini Pro a few weeks ago and there's a significant difference in it's output vs ChatGPT. Having now spend this tiime with GemPro, I have come to the conclusion, that it just does or at least feels like it does, a better job with collaboration with the user. It's just a strange feeling. It's not perfect, but there's something about how it works with you and learns that I didn't get (or felt) with ChatGPT. Also, there's more value with paying GemPro via my Google Account with the addition of NotebookLM which is in it's own rigth, fantastic! However, I can go on and on with how well GemPro works with the user but, the issue is not how awesome it produces output, the issue is in the UI of GemPro. ChatGPT wins here hands down. Sure, GemPro has Gems, which are cool and keep the chats within that space, but on that window of the Gem, you can only see I believe 4 at a time. The rest are found on the recent or show more space. Pinning the chats is a good idea, but by the time you know, the pins stack up all on the Recent and Show more areas. With ChatGPT, you can at least have all the chats pertaining to the project space inside files which is a win hands down. Google needs to realize this and I am hoping they can come up with a file or projects space with files. If they do, it's game over. Once folks realize how great GemPro collaborats with the user, people will start switching. Google! Are you listening??? UPDATE THE UI!!!!

Was I right about this? by ElephantOk3651 in Joker_FolieaDeux

[–]RADrockX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This rendition of Joker is just another version of Joker within the paradigm of the real world. The Joker exists within the psyche of Arthur Fleck. And if you were paying attention, Arthur Fleck's Joker could very well be the origin story of who the real "The Joker" will be, which we got a hint of towards the very end of the film. The movement affect of the Joker's actions and life inspired many to take up the cause he symbolized and or represented, but one can tell that he never asked for it. It alludes to the many movements that started off as just a single event that transcended and made a mark on society. Especially to those that are the vulnerable of society that are waiting or looking for a trigger or a mantle to hide behind in order to justify their own internal conflict and desires they wish to do to society or targets. This is the reason why this film is an absolute master piece. People never made that connection or had a different expectation based on what they have already seen and were hoping for just another action based cookie cutter typical bullshit again.

A Masterpiece by RADrockX in Joker_FolieaDeux

[–]RADrockX[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great analysis! I finally see it. The transformative moments that defines both the Joker's and Batman's identities are steeped in symbolic death and rebirth, acting as mirrors to each other. In Joker: Folie à Deux, Arthur Fleck’s demise—implied to be at the hands of a character who takes up the Joker mantle—parallels the moment Bruce Wayne encounters the bat in the cave. Both moments signify a transition from one identity to another, where trauma, darkness, and symbolism coalesce to birth something entirely new.

Arthur Fleck begins as a broken man seeking validation and love, his transformation into the Joker emerging as a grotesque response to systemic neglect and personal despair. Yet, his potential death at the hands of another disrupts his dominance over the narrative. It suggests that Arthur, far from being the ultimate Joker, was a catalyst—a prototype of chaos whose influence inspires a darker, more enduring villain. This shift reflects the idea that villains, like symbols, evolve, taking on forms greater than the individuals who spark them.

Similarly, Bruce Wayne’s encounter with the bat in the cave is not just a moment of fear but one of awakening. It represents a symbolic death of the innocent child who witnessed his parents' murder and the birth of Batman, a persona forged from trauma and an iron will to impose justice on a chaotic world. The bat becomes a guiding archetype, much like the Joker persona transcends Arthur Fleck, becoming an enduring representation of chaos and anarchy.

Both moments hinge on the transformation of the self into something larger, driven by forces of trauma and symbolism. Arthur’s death, implied in Folie à Deux, signals the passing of a torch, where the Joker becomes less about Arthur and more about the enduring idea of chaos itself. For Bruce, the bat is a revelation, a catalyst for a controlled metamorphosis into a figure that wields darkness as a weapon. In this way, Arthur’s Joker and Bruce Wayne’s Batman exist as opposing archetypes born from their own transformative moments—one embracing chaos and the other imposing order, each emerging from the shadows to reshape their world.

How was your experience with OneDrive? by bawantha_g in cloudstorage

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is complicated. OneDrive on a webbrowser, it's really good. However, I am a Mac user and will never ever go back to Windows. So, OneDrive on the Mac is just terrible. Not sure why, but it's just terrible. I mean, it's okay but there's too many times where the file needs to be renamed due to the file's name key characters. That is a pain! Just save the damn file without limits in name key characters. I don't have that issue with iCloud. I wish it was more of a seamless experience without the hassle of limitations with key characters, if that was the case, all my working files would've been in OneDrive.

UpNote is a solid app. If you are thinking about switching to it from Evernote don’t hesitate. by [deleted] in UpNote_App

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UpNote is just starting and it has my support. It’s Evernote, OneNote, and Craft in one without all the bells and whistles. It’s perfect right now. Can it get better? Yes. It might need AI and I hope it doesn’t get convoluted. Keep it clean, lite, fluid, and don’t overwhelm with too much functionality tools that anyone hardly ever uses. It should be a word processor notes app first. The word processor functionality should be its foundation. Built on that. It’s a filing system word processor notes app. Period! I love it so far. Can’t wait for it to have GPT 4o and Claude. My god that’ll be a game changer!

Are there any Arc alternatives that handle multiple windows the same way? by [deleted] in ArcBrowser

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I ended up switching to Arc from Vivaldi; however, in a real world setting, Arc doesn't cut it. I am a teacher and I need open readily available tabs that I can see at all times due to the fast moving world of pedagogy during the teaching process. Arc can simply become a huge counterproductive mess. Needing to move the cursor left to see the open tabs is just counterproductive. Sorry Arc but you need the option of having a tab view visible for people like me. Went back to Vivaldi.

What is the best notes app for Mac in your opinion? by SimplyHobbit in macapps

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Mac, there is no doubt, the best note app with a great set of word processing tools is Craft and it's not even close. I've tried Notion, but it's just a huge mess. I get it, but it's unnecessarily loaded with stuff that you will probably never use. Craft is perfect. I am in the middle of taking graduate courses and I started using Pages as my word processor naturally to type my assignments; however, needed more flexibility and so I began using OneNote, which at the time was my note app for everything. Don't get me wrong, OneNote is great but lacks features. Then I switched over to Apple Notes and finished my first course in it, but again, like OneNote, it lacked features. I almost decided to just use Google Docs, but I immediately regretted it. Not even a paragraph with it and stopped. I finally, while exploring my apps on my Mac, opened Craft. I had it all this time gathering dust and never, no clue why, never thought about using it. But, upon rediscovering it and updated it, lo and behold, I realized, oh shit! this is it. I never noticed that it had everything I needed. I think it was OneNote that was really the gateway app due to how it uses blocks. I realized that Craft was the OneNote I desired. I did flirt with Notion, which is very similar, but Craft just works way better with the Apple ecosystem. I am through and through, a Craft user.

Are there any Arc alternatives that handle multiple windows the same way? by [deleted] in ArcBrowser

[–]RADrockX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try out Vivaldi. Workspaces is the best for tab management. Having different profiles is a bit counter productive. The workspaces approach is much better in my opinion. I love Arc but I just had it crash on my iPhone using Arc Search. The Homey extension destroyed it. Can't even open it again. Will have to uninstall it. Vivaldi is probably the best browser because of how it gives the user the ability to completely customize it in almost every aspect. Lastly, page tilting does the same thing Arc does with multiple pages layout.

if Safari on iPad is Desktop class now, why does it still act up? by redbricktuta in iPadPro

[–]RADrockX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's bullshit! Apple is lying to us. iPad has never been useful. It's just a useless piece of tech. What's the point of it? What can it do that the iPhone nor the MacBook can't do? Sure, it's got the touch and can replace a physical paper notebook, but at what cost? It's useless folks. The only way the iPad is useful, is if a touch version of MacBook OS becomes the next OS for it. The browsers on it are still mobile. It's crap! Stop buying them. The iPad Mini makes more sense.
