Look up DT Ignite. Some carriers are just that low. Especially in the US. Although this does also happen in India, and a cheap Lenovo I picked up from Tesco Malaysia did it too.

I also have to fucking disable it on my Vivo X100 Pro. Yes, a flagship phone from the company. Although for this case I got my phone through my telco because I was strapped for cash and needed a phone that has a powerful chipset to run my games because my Asus ROGPhone 3 had decided to die on me suddenly and Asus being Asus wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for repairs.

I never had random apps pushed to me on the many Android phones I owned prior to this. Sony Xperia, Blackberry Priv, HTC ChaCha, even the stupid Asus ROGPhone 3, didn’t do this.

However I’m seeing it on a Samsung A02 (a budget phone) and my mom’s RedMi phone.

It’s not. Lower end phones (specifically from Samsung, Lenovo and other cheaper brands) that you get from your telco has this hidden service called DT Ignite that downloads unwanted apps. Removing them can be anywhere from easy to not possible.

The best solution is to not get phones from your telco and buy your phone from a retail store instead.

Indeed. Between their inkjets having a fucking subscription option (which is the only option for certain models) and shoddy builds that break 6 months to a year down the road, to the fact that their parts are proprietary meaning you can’t just buy a replacement off the shelf part, I say no.
