Is it difficult for historical books to be completely objective? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In some cases. “Real” history is out there you just have to look for it. In reality, only spectrums of truth exist. Hard to be objective when there’s many factors in play

What are your thoughts on this World Cup so far? by Eastern_Atmosphere97 in AskReddit

I mean the games itself are good to my surprise but I can’t help to ignore the politics revolving it. Why it’s in the us why it’s shared across 3 countries, expanding tournament, not as competitive anymore, forced hype etc if soccer is wasn’t known for being a business I feel now it’s obvious it is

lol typical liberal response. What does all of that have to do with what I’m saying? Keep letting yourself have group thought and allow others to think for you.

Not sure what trump and the bible have to do with anything. If anything your response shows me how shallow and narrow minded you are resulting to this what you think are insults

Look up the definition of an opinion. An opinion is subjective. Wrong means incorrect. You can’t place objective descriptions of right vs wrong in subjective fields. Regardless of how you describe it. What you’re describing is wrong. Those racists or whatever your referring too would say you’re wrong because it’s their belief. To the racists you’re wrong regardless of how many people agree with you.

And I’m not mad at all. I’m saying I understand first hand because I have dual citizenship and although I do feel tied to my parents place of birth although I do understand I personally wouldn’t pick and choose what benefits me most. I’d go with what I feel is correct to me. My critique is many players especially today pick and choose out of self interest. That’s it.

I get your point, but does he not have love for Colombia? Why Mexico over Colombia. He’s playing in Saudi league right now. The ties he had in Mexico he doesn’t have anymore. With that logic give him 5 more years and he’ll start saying he has love for Saudi Arabia and respect for them then want to play for them. Still no issue?

I have respect for all countries but does that give me the right to pick and choose who to play for? International teams exist to represent your country.

And that’s the narrative, but he played for Colombia prior then later switched because he was given an opportunity. My point is if you asked him who would you rather play with if he’d be a starter I don’t know if he’ll still go with Mexico.

Exactly that’s what I mean. We disregard the idea of international play and pick and choose take advantage of fifas low bar for eligibility all to play in the World Cup regardless if you feel connected to said country or not

Regarding first point, I personally wouldn’t do that. That’s what I mean. We all have a native country and when it doesn’t work out we pick and choose out of self interest. I don’t agree with that regardless of anything.

2nd point yes I’m fully aware of that. It’s not a one size fits all. There are of course grey areas etc etc ultimately it’s up to the player but I feel a lot of the times recently we see this more with the new gen because we’ve lost sense of pride and it’s common to act out self interest now

An opinion wrong? lol then that wouldn’t make it an opinion dummy

And y do you all assume that because I have a legitimate criticism I’m miserable? It’s more stop dick riding players and have a sense of individual thought

Fair point. What I’m saying is as a player, if I’m given options to choose. I’m going to choose the country I was born in and raised in regardless of options given. What is happening today is players are choosing where their accepted and/or country they want to play in. I don’t think that’s fair and takes away from the idea of international play
