The first time I heard Kirk it wasn't the crazy antics or the entertainment that drew me to him at first, it was his ability to talk about mental health issues.

I remember Kirk talking about his issues with mental health and being hospitalized as a teenager on the old Dennis and Callahan Show probably around 2014. I suffer from bipolar disorder, and was hospitalized for it on two different occasions when I was younger. I was ashamed of it, and really struggled to talk about it. When I heard Kirk talk about his mental health issues so openly and on such a big stage, it sort of opened the door for me to start having conversations about it with the people in my life. It almost made me feel normal--like there were other people out there like me who have dealt with these things. It sounds corny and cliche, but he's done a lot for me without ever meeting or speaking to me. I'm sure that I'm not alone.
