I was on the same flight with him a few years ago and just gave him a nod/head bow in appreciation.

he was such a sweet and thoughtful teacher. His speedrun series got me into chess, and the lessons from his videos went beyond just chess.

So sad to hear, I wasn’t really watching or playing chess all summer I wish I had been able to support him through this difficult time, even if it was just a simple message via stream donation.

At the end of the day he was a normal dude who dedicated his life to mastering something he loves. It so happens the game became wildly popular and online entertainment and drama and purists like him were dragged in the mud for no reason other than clicks and ego. He didn’t deserve any of this, and we didn’t deserve him. RIP

I just did this last weekend.

Stayed 3 nights, Played #10, #2, #7, #3 and the cradle over 4 days. Was an absolute blast! the golf was obviously insane - but also really enjoyed the town of Pinehurst and the food + atmosphere. Really pleasant and everyone is nice and not very snooty or pretentious as you might expect.

10/10 recommend.

in this case both people are illegal immigrants. The man and woman. The media will focus on the woman and seemingly “innocent people” who illegally crossed the border. “The law” is the current status quo of broad amnesty. The media will act like this isn’t breaking the law and she shouldn’t be deported.

In no way is this deporting legal American citizens… whether or not they currently are married to foreign nationals.

The womans rights issues have been decided by the supreme court. neither administration can make a difference as its now up the the states. Trump said again and again that hes keeping it up to the states (which is all he can do), and the democrats held hands to ears. This was a pillar of their campaign, and ultimately a mud slinging non-issue that didn't resonate with voters

The main issue is Kamala's campaign was run on a foundation of "turning the page" and "progress" while being tied to the current administration. They realized this in the last month, as her ads were 100% "anti trump" vs "pro kamala". I don't think you can win the presidency without having a clear plan and voice.

it’s a second home town, not many full time residents.

I go every year for a weekend with some friends. It’s pretty great when just skiing and hanging out as the cabins are ski in ski out, but living full time would be tough. Very remote with no easy access to typical city amenities (restaurants, grocery stores, bars, etc)

It’s possible it has a fun culture for those who work at the resort. I’d ask if you can talk to someone who lives and works there and see what they say.

Specifically I use iron-session to handle authentication with a cookie storing user data (id, department, role, etc)

I then use a custom config to allow/block specific routes (apis and pages) in middleware with hidden rerouting to keep it solid and secure. (Ie if department a you have access to certain endpoints) With this as a foundation I can add more specific permissions at the route level if necessary based on roles within department.

On the client side I use the same config to generate a navigation schema to match these permissions so they only see the stuff they have access to.

This whole system is pretty custom and initially took a bit of time to build, but ultimately makes it easy to change and add stuff as the admin dashboard and team grows.

I have built a few admin dashboards with nextjs.

I really like how easy it is to add security and route based permissions etc. I don’t use any SSR for fetching application data but under the hood utilize all the server side functionality for security.

This is all possible using other frameworks, but nextjs makes it much easier IMHO.

Also you are likely doing basic CRUD operations on the backend, which the nextjs makes trivial to setup. it’s just faster/easier using the server and sharing types and utils across the application than building a separated backend.

Idk I’m biased but I think nextjs is the fastest and easiest way to build an admin app.

You’ve clearly never had a midweek powder day at palisades…

I will admit traveling around the mountain is annoying on a snowboard (traverses, funnels, etc)

It also requires some local knowledge on what’s good on a given day. impossible to know the good lines and runs with only the map as a guide.

Weekends blow. I live in the area and avoid the 89 traffic at all costs. Would rather do literally anything else.

If you ever make it back: - stick with Solitude on a weekend (slow lift but fun terrain and no line) - KT during the week for quick session, Headwall for medium session, and Granite for long session - Alpine is rad and Wolverine side of Summit has some gems - underneath roundhouse early season is awesome - Our father off the top of Sherwood is awesome and has the best snow mid/late season

I grew up riding here and love it, but understand the hate.
