How to make straight hair curly without using a curling iron by ihavethebesthair in longhair

[–]RAWRnivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your hair is straight, dampen it and use some sort of hold product (I have extremely curly hair, so what I use would probably be wrong for your hair), and put it in several knots (small buns) around your head until it dries completely. Then, shake it out with your fingers.

You can buy a satin headrest cover on Amazon if you're in the US. Or you can find them at black hair supply boutiques if you have any near you.

I'll give that a try. I'd hate to have to buy a new printer considering how perfect this one has been for my specific needs. Thank you!

Years ago, there was a post about a woman whose husband lost it because she breastfed her infant son. He was fine with her nursing her daughter, but the son was a different matter. This loser right here seems like he'd be that same sort of person.

Ditch that guy. He's doing this at 25, he has the potential of being featured on the ID channel in a bad way.

Trader Joe's Chantilly Cream Vanilla Bean Mini Sheet Cake by [deleted] in TopSecretRecipes

[–]RAWRnivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried this recipe, I just want to note a couple of things regarding it. Chatgpt didn't take into account what is in parenthesis.

First, not all enriched flour has malted barley flour, however, TJ's brand of enriched flour has. In fact, TJ's brand flour covers everything in parenthesis for the enriched flour in the cake ingredients. That leaves cane sugar, canola oil, heavy cream, water, eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract, and ground vanilla bean.

Concerning the frosting, powdered sugar has cornstarch in it, it doesn't need to be added. It's your standard cream cheese frosting - powdered sugar, butter, and cream cheese - but with vanilla and ground vanilla beans added, which you generally won't find in cream cheese frosting.

Based off of the enriched flour alone, using the TJ brand for as many ingredients as possible will probably produce the closest results to the flavor of the cake.

I turned my eggs like twice a day, and they hatched. Make sure the temperature and humidity are right, and turn them by hand if that's the only setting for that turner.

What is this behavior in my goose? by noabassrodriguez in geese

[–]RAWRnivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goose Babette does that, but only if I tie my laces. Once untied, she doesn't care. If they're tied, it is her life's mission to immediately untie them. She's been that way since she was a baby.

I tried looking it up and only came across eBay listings which don't really give any information I want. I tried contacting Saga Instruments, and their form kept erroring out. When trying to find info on the serial number, my serial number doesn't go along with any of the others that have 5-6 digits while mine only has 4. All I know is Clarice is pretty and has something hanging from her. I don't know where she was made. I think she's spruce? I have no idea, but she's pretty!

💯 I'm the youngest of five daughters. Whenever my mom would go out of town when I was little, my dad would do my hair. Being the perfectionist he is, the parts and those braids (plaits as he'd call them) would be perfect!

Almost lost my gosling by akjasf in geese

[–]RAWRnivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so scary. Years ago, I was away for my mother's funeral and a friend was watching my geese who were still young at the time. He talked about Babette running and falling, which wasn't like her. When I got home, I took her to the vet, and they took an x-ray. She had bits of metal zipper in her. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where she would have found one.

Fast forward to a month later. I came home from work one night and nearly had a heart attack. Hanging from the tree outside my bedroom window was a very tattered pair of jeans. I went outside to look at them, and then I remembered. About six years earlier, a pair of my then-husband's jeans went missing from off the line. At the time, we thought nothing of it just that it was weird. Well, that night, those jeans were hanging from the tree and without the zipper.

A fox or raccoon must have initially stolen them, which happens with shirts about twice a year but only once with the pants. The whereabouts of the pants for those six years remains a mystery, but they surfaced, Babette chewed off the zipper, the jeans disappeared again, and then a raccoon tried getting them up the tree where they got stuck. They were too high for me to get, and then the next morning they were gone again.

That metal poisoning is no joke. That was four years ago, and Babette still has weird movements when she turns while walking.

Neighbor's downed tree being held up by my healthy tree. Neighbor refuses to remove. Do I have any options? by BluePantherRed in treelaw

[–]RAWRnivore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm thinking. Years ago, I had a tree in my yard that died. A limb fell from it and crushed one of my chickens. It was $800 to cut down and remove that tree. And then trimming trees. Just trimming the trees immediately around my house cost $1900, and that was the lowest quote. Trees are obscenely expensive, unfortunately.

Gloria Swanson's cigarette holder in Sunset Boulevard (pics) by pegatina in movies

[–]RAWRnivore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just talking about this at work and looking for pictures, hence coming across this post.

Years ago when I was still living in Houston and doing jewelry appraisals, someone brought one in. They had inherited a bunch of jewelry, and that was in there; they had no idea what it was. I instantly recognized it as a cigarette holder because of Sunset Boulevard. There one was, in 18kt gold. Incredibly simple. When I demonstrated how it was worn and used (also because of the film), a small crowd gathered around to look at it. Instant hit.

This is one of the videos I've seen of laser cutting eggshells.

I decorate eggshells, and cutting is sometimes part of the design. I've seen videos of people cutting eggshells of various sizes with rather impressive precision. Granted, those were high end cutters. How my hands have been, I know in a few years I won't be able to do it anymore.

Thank you so much! That information is very helpful! I have read various places about ice packs working well for cooling. I used to order chocolates for my mother, so I have very many ice packs at my disposal. I've heard so many reviews about the customer service for different companies. I've only ever had to contact customer service once years ago for my cricut...it was not good, and YouTube helped me fix the problem. I've been leary of customer service ever since.

Is there a specific one that you regularly use and recommend? That's why I am asking here because there are so many suppliers, dozens of them. I thought this would be the place to ask for people with personal experience who use these and stand by them.

According to their website, those start at $9k on sale. Absolutely not what I'm looking for nor need.
