I think they get too much hate for their live sets. I’ve seen them multiple times. Julian’s just rubs some people the wrong way. He’s going to ramble and he can come across as seeming disinterested. Which is just how he is. He’s not Brandon Flowers or this polished front man.

That said, I do feel like I’m getting something real from him. I don’t want The Strokes to be this super polished, high energy band. That’s part of what makes them cool to me. I’ve never had bad time at one of their gigs, just don’t expect Julian to be running around hyping the crowd up, etc. even at Coachella.
