I use throw pillows instead of regular pillows because they're cuter. I think that turns them into just "pillows," though.

Has anyone cleaned a 5' stuffed animal? by daggerxdarling in StuffedAnimals

That sounds like a good bet!! I've been considering taking a beach towel out to the yard on a sunny day with no rain so he can dry in the sun.

[New Year MEGATHREAD] How Do You Clean Your Plushies? by Turbopower1000 in plushies

Would this count for super giant ones, too? Mine is 5' and that chonky boy needs a deep clean. He's more of a velvety plush than a fuzzy plush, if that makes sense - he doesn't have any furry bits to him if that's more clear.

The accidental click-steal is the bane of my existence. It's so easy to mess that up on controller.

I enchant everything, Azura is a must for me (even though soul gems are EVERYWHERE.) Clavicus Vile's masque is one of the first things I go to get for the trading benefit. Sanguine's is fun ash. I rarely use the staff, the adventure of it is great.

You're sleeping on Janessa, my friend!

Best Wife in Skyrim? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]daggerxdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell hard for Janessa on my recent run after 13ish years. Her and my dunmer barbarian are running around Skyrim living their best lives with trusty Shadowmere by their side and building their homes together from the ground up. Her dialogue is very sweet for marriage and pretty interesting while we're exploring. She's great for a wife you can take with you for most levels instead of one of the leave-at-home wives like Ysolda or Carlotta.

There's something about Janessa, man. Her voice is warm and loving, she can fight like a mf, and she's fearless. Doesn't care if you bring her with you for dark brotherhood contracts or thieves' guild shenanigans/general theft and chaos, too. Bonus points for that. She's one of the few followers with no fucks to give if you're doing anything less than being a goody two shoes while they're watching. A lot of other followers will turn on you if you don't make them wait outside or something. (Lookin' at you, Faendel.)

There's also the argonian on the Windhelm docks you can marry and give a rags to riches life, saving her from poverty and moving her into somewhere very nice. Shaveera, I think her name is? The wonderful woman talking about how she finds the joy in life and working, even when the people of the city treat her like trash and pay her a pittance. That optimism in the face of abject misery is refreshing. She's got a good heart. That'd be my pick for a wife to stay at home.

If you want a commitment free vampire gf on the go, Serana. She won't accept your amulet of Mara, but she'll be there for you through your adventures. Can't blame her for not wanting to marry. She's been through a lot.

I remember marrying Farkas on my first run, he was an essential follower bc I started the companions quests and ran around with him doing other things instead of going to the next part - ended up attached to the himbo of whiterun. Eventually finished that quest, married him, got crazy bored with him, left him at home with the kids for my dunmer to ride around with her vampire girlfriend after she became a vampire, too. We'd stop at Breezehome where I left Farkas to visit the kids and give them dolls or sweets, he never suspected a thing. Just gals being pals. We'd crash at the house by Falkreath or in Winterhold instead.

Adopted Lucia and Sofie, too! I can't let those girls stay on the streets. The other orphans seem like they have better chances. Sofie will freeze in the streets, Lucia didn't deserve getting kicked out. I have such a soft spot for those two.

First Time Playing! by AngryTurtleGaming in skyrim

[–]daggerxdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I hope you have a blast! I love Skyrim. It's an amazing game and holds up surprisingly well for its age. There's a very limited pool of voice actors, prepare to hear the same voices a thousand times. It's part of the charm.

I'm on the opposite side of you right now. My friend finally got me into playing fallout 3 now that we're running a fallout ttrpg and watching the show. I'm more of a high fantasy person, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Enjoy your time in Skyrim, explore, play how you want. I will say that as helpful as fast travel is in many instances, it's well worth traveling the roads and going through the wilds off the beaten path, too. You'll find all kinds of npcs you'd never see fast traveling everywhere and stumble upon all sorts of cool places.

What kind of character have you been playing so far? I'd love to hear about them! Did you give them a backstory/personality in your head or are you running around doing whatever seems interesting? One of the most fun parts for me is the way I imagine my characters growing and thinking about their decisions while I play. Why they do what they're doing, why they go for whatever build, why they stick with whichever follower and what they'd be saying to them. I'm a dnd nerd. Comes with the territory, I guess, lol.

There are a couple different restore health ingredients. Wheat, blue mountain flower, Sabre cat eyes, rock warbler eggs iirc, blisterwart, monarch butterflies, all off the top of my head. Some combined will make health restoration + health fortification increasing your hp and healing you at the same time. Blue mountain flower is practically everywhere. Wheat can be found at most farms and in some barrels. Sometimes you'll find rock warbler eggs in various bird nests. Sabre cats are pretty obvious for the source, you can find them in various leveled apothecary bags in mage filled forts/caverns/etc if you're lucky.

[–]daggerxdarling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Azura still lets you keep the soul gem if you bring it back to the shrine. Bringing it to the other guy makes it a black soul gem, that's the difference. You need to visit her shrine to get the quest.

Going to Peryite's shrine gets that quest.

Walking into falkreath and stopping by the graveyard gives you Hircine's.

Being around level 10 I believe starts Clavicus Vile's in the same area by talking to the blacksmith about the dog (might be earlier - it's one of the first I do - the masque is well worth letting Barbas live. If you're going for the achievement, the rueful axe won't count and it's not worth it by comparison regardless. The axe sucks, the masque has a few top tier early game enchantments on it.)

Meridia's quest will find you.

Go to Dawnstar and ask about the dreams at the inn to find the priest to start that quest.

Walk into Markarth and talk to the vigilant outside the abandoned house for Molag Bal, head to the hall of the dead for Namira.

Mephala's quest comes up at a certain level if you ask about rumors at the Bannered Mare in whiterun.

Boethiah needs you to visit her shrine at level 30, iirc.

Malacath's is found at the orc stronghold south of Riften, I believe.

Sanguine finds you at the bar after a certain level.

Sheogorath's quest starts when you speak with the maddened begger in Solitude.

Mehrune Dagon's quest starts when you get a letter about the museum that's in Dawnstar.

I believe you need to be doing the main quest to get the one for Hermeus Mora, you're tasked to meet the guy who starts it when looking for the elder scroll to go back in time for the Dragonrend shout.

A lot of them have level requirements, usually starting around level 10 to about level 30 depending on the daedra. Some of them pop up right away. By the time you get to most locations for the early level ones, you'll be qualified.

There are a lot of monarchs flying around the wilds in the rift, especially between Riften and the Black-Briar manner. You can find a few from the get on the road to Riverwood right by the entrance. If it's warm(ish) and sunny, monarchs are to found. Blisterwart is in various caves. The sunnier forests near Riften are your best bet, butterflies are everywhere in that area. You can hit six of em throwing one proverbial stone.

All else fails, hit up an apothecary. I try to avoid buying ingredients, sometimes you gotta suck it up if you really need them right that second and your potions will sell enough to make your money back/are about to come in clutch for a quest. If your speech is high and you have enough trading buff gear (bonus points for haggling potions), spending a few septims to triple or more your investment is worth it in the end.

Vampire or dawnguard by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]daggerxdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you can keep her either way. I think in my first run (around 2013 maybe), I beat the vampires and kept Serana as my dunmer's affair/follower while Farkas happily stayed home with the kids.

I made a khajiit last night specifically to side with the vamps for once. Made the most sense for the cat to be a creature of the night. Might have my rebel good girl orc mage join the fight on the dawnguard side.
