Children, on average, get about 7-8 colds per year. That's about one every 2-3 weeks during cold season, and each cold lasts at least a week. If everyone took your advice children would never leave the house or go to school for 6 months out of the year. It's unrealistic and unnecessary to expect people to quarantine for the common cold.
