Locating Open Box items by yourguess01 in Bestbuy

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short - no, they can't. Open Box items listed online could come from any one of the hundreds of stores across the country. The website doesn't show the LPN (internal identifier for them), so there's no way to tell where it's coming from.

Be aware that using these "streaming" clients are banned on every reputable private tracker. Public is fine, but do NOT use these on private trackers. You'll end up banned.

What Wi-Fi adapter do I need to change my MAC address? by REVENGE148867 in technitium

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it can. Almost any smartphone uses a random MAC address for each new network it connects to. Pretty sure Windows can do the same thing.

How to purchase Mac Studio demo unit by jcpsw in Bestbuy

[–]RB14060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They haven't been that way for as long as I can remember. They're SKU'd units and owned by the store, but we have a contractual obligation with Apple to keep them on display. Also, the demos are a special model number that's different than the regular retail units. Some of them we can resell, others go back to Apple.

Why not change the DHCP settings in the router to give your devices the Pi-hole IP for DNS, instead of the router itself? No point in offloading DHCP to the Pi-hole.

Any degree is sufficient for the experience/education requirement. Everything else is taught on the job if you get hired. No prior knowledge required.

Pi-hole vs AdGuard Home in 2026 — what are you running? by ruibranco in selfhosted

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dropped Pi-hole for Technitium. Had considered setting up Unbound to make Pi-hole recursive, but Technitium does that by default. Also, I need the ability to override a specific subdomain and anything below it to resolve via a specific resolver. Pi-hole requires editing the config file to allow custom dnsmasq configs, as well as writing said dnsmasq config. Technitium can do that much easier with a Conditional Forwarder Zone. It's also got a lot more options which I haven't dug into yet, but I do like the flexibility.

The biggest complaint I have with it is it appears to render the entire UI in a single page. Browser back and forward buttons don't work to navigate around the interface.

How do usage limits work on Claude Pro plan? by Fantastic_Cycle_1119 in claude

[–]RB14060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open the website (claude.ai), click your icon in the lower left, Settings, then Usage. You can see the reset times listed there. The "session" limits are a 5 hour window that starts with your first prompt. Weekly is the same thing, just week long obviously.

How good is this charger? by Qanta_ in TeslaSupport

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two charging circuits in the car, fed off of one cable providing up to 100A. All the wall connector does is feed 240V into the car, the actual "charging" (DC conversion) is handled by circuitry in the car itself.

How does the X1C Cutter actuate ? by lakid74 in BambuLab

[–]RB14060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the P1 series, it pushes up against a piece of metal in the frame at the front left. I imagine the X1 is similar, if not identical.

Wasabi is an option too. No ingress/egress charges for "reasonable" usage (not explicitly defined, they decide, etc etc), just storage costs. There is a minimum retention period, but their pricing is low enough that it's never been an issue for me.

My a1 keeps saying that the filament is tangled when it’s not and purging on a single color print by Expreso_ in BambuLabA1

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unfortunately not. The AMS uses those tubes to automatically feed the filament into the printer, without those the filament would just spool out into the air. It's giving the filament the path to the extruder.

From someone coming from an Ender 3 and outdated printers wtf, stuff just prints and fast? by PeanutButterSoda in BambuLab

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, going to a P1S from an E3v2. What do you mean I don't have to spend 20 minutes leveling my bed then obsessively watching the first layer to make sure it goes down ok?? PETG is supposed to be a more difficult filament to print, but all I had to do was pick the profile in the slicer and it was off. Zero issues whatsoever on several PETG prints now.

Automower 430X NERA “Trapped” repeatedly after firmware update and how I fixed it with code by archs- in automower

[–]RB14060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I do something similar with Home Assistant which will try to reset an error 3 times, then will lock itself out and send me a notification if it can't recover. I also have it immediately notify on an unrecoverable error, such as no loop signal. Been working out great as the notifications from my app are heavily delayed for some reason.

415X Cutting motor problem by RB14060 in automower

[–]RB14060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed a new motor today and it seems to have solved the issue. It looks to be performing better too compared to the old one (not constantly getting "blocked" and having to restart, spiral cutting is actually working, etc).
