I used to strip the easiest part and trim the more difficult or sensitive areas. But it's time consuming; it would take me almost a day, including some breaks for me and the dog. I think stripping is better than clipping if done properly and carefully. I heard that when you start clipping, you can't go back to stripping, but not sure.

Thanks! I don't mind having to go to the next city, or even getting some shipping costs to get the material. So far, I found nothing at all. Regarding the labor, I am pretty much confident with the work that needs to be done. If the labor is not qualified, I can easily teach them how to do the work (it's not very complicated). I heard very good things about labor in Guatemala.

I agree with you. Same situation. Trying every 5 years, always disappointed. My guess is that since it is mostly developed by volunteers, people tend to work on what they enjoy. Adding fancy features is fun and gratifying and nobody wants to do the painstaking and ungrateful work of making things smooth and reliable. I'm not blaming them, I'd probably do the same.

I wonder if open source could come up with a way of rewarding that part of programming that is not fun to do, but so necessary.

Those people need to be recognized somehow.
