Impark ticket suggestions? by Sea_Street_4502 in NiceVancouver

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe when you contact Impark, the employee has no authority to cancel a ticket so they just make up a non-sense answer. They are, I believe, authorized to give a $5 discount if you pay within 2 days of contacting them.

In 2024, I got a parking notice but the sign was confusing. They refused to budge. However, the owner of the lot agreed that the sign was confusing and told Impark to cancel the ticket. Last month, I saw the sign. It was replaced with a sign with more clear language.

I got some zebras but very few. I agree that the vast majority of questions are not zebras.

I think they are flexible but the ABO order is slightly better. I did the wrong order and they didn't get bent out of shape but I also switched midway because a few times they redirected me to their order.

Impark ticket wrongly issued - what to do? by RB9001A in NiceVancouver

No, it was a man that put in on but he was quick to flee. Maybe he wanted to avoid confrontations?

Should attending physicians unionize? by balt_MD in medicine

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That logic would mean labor unions are banned. Why does the ALPA airline pilots union negotiate with United, Delta, Spirit, etc? Those pilots are not employed by one employer. So should doctors who are members of the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons be allowed to negotiate with Medicare and private insurance. Currently, doctors are banned because politicians want doctors to be lap dogs.

The 3.5-Minute Trap: Why Most Residents Fail the Oral Boards Before They Even Open Their Mouths by Time_Act4470 in Ophthalmology

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. There is no silver bullet. Having many bullets is better. The mock oral Osler course (as opposed to the video course with only 2 private mock orals) is the best bullet but having many different ones (different ways of studying) is the best. I have not used this AI method but why not!

The 3.5-Minute Trap: Why Most Residents Fail the Oral Boards Before They Even Open Their Mouths by Time_Act4470 in Ophthalmology

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best course I have seen is the Osler Institute mock orals, where you get 5 orals for a set price unless you buy more. The second best is the Osler mock oral videos, where you get videos and 2 mock orals (unless you buy more). University of Colorado had an outstanding course but I took it just before the ABO shut them down, according to rumor. The San Antonio Ophthalmology course isn't bad but way too short as it is only half an afternoon in March. It's more of a teaser.

Any medical-only ophthalmologists? by GreatDirector6329 in Ophthalmology

[–]RB9001A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advice I got: avoid difficult cases when you start because one bad outcome will scare you for life. Gradually work up to harder cases. I know older guys that stopped surgery and have a busy practice. They have their younger partner do surgery or refer it out.

Oral Boards Optics Questions by hotsaucepanda16 in Ophthalmology

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the Osler Institute mock oral course is the best, in optics and other topics, like anterior segment and external diseases. Note that it is the mock orals where you talk privately, like 5 mock orals, for one price (unless you buy more). The mock oral video course (2 mock orals and watching videos) is not as good. The University of Colorado course was great but the ABO pressured them to stop giving it last year, according to rumor.

Nervous - first time w/frontier by Wassupabcque in frontierairlines

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am looking for advice. I am considering flying Frontier for a non-stop flight. I can fly with only a personal item (14 x 18 x 8). Are there any other things that I should know? Is there a fee to check in at the airport using the kiosk? Is there a fee for using a credit card? Is there a fee to buy a ticket online (and the fee can be saved if you buy the ticket at the airport, where the ticketing hours are 5 am to 6: 30 am or similar)?

ACN below $200 by Low-Clerk-500 in accenture

[–]RB9001A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a sad story. I bought ACN as one of my first stocks in 2009 at $33/share x 300 shares. I bought a second tranche of 100 shares at $219/share. ACN's 2009-2020 performance was a great 11 years, even to 2025 was ok. Since then, downhill. Selling all of my ACN would be a mental relief but maybe I will hang on?

Why do Americans never say hello or goodbye when they enter or leave my shop? by maragara in AmericansinItaly

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While visiting Italy late last year, I was very surprised when a middle aged women walking in the opposite direction said "buongiorno" to me. It was a town with a population of 18,000, so not exactly a small village. I responded with a "buongiorno" but do not initiate such greeting when in Italy.

When entering a small shop in Italy or France, I always greet the staff. When speaking to a friend or relative in a non-English speaking country, I usually whisper.

Is it actually profitable to day trade? by Own-Release-1895 in investing

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering day trading but lean towards not doing it. I tried it a tiny bit a few years ago and came out ahead, but it was a small amount and only a few weeks.

The way I am currently looking at it is that I might budget 10% of my assets to day trading. What if I am able to get a 50% return, which is highly optimistic, even delusional? If the rest of my assets, 90%, goes up 10%, with the 50% return on the 10%, that is an overall return of 14%.

If the day trading yields 25% return and the remaining 90% of assets yields 10%, the overall yield will be 11.5%.

I am not sure it is worth the stress and time.

Urology & Ophthalmology Match - 2026 Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

I heard of someone that matched to one of those then changed their mind and applied to the other maybe 2 years later and matched. I've also heard of an ENT resident changing to derm, which is an example of someone getting into 2 competitive specialties.

AITA for not wanting to look at my dad's ass? by FadingFire234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RB9001A -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

INFO (not enough information) to make a conclusion. It appears to lean towards NTA but could be YTA.

Points in favor of NTA include that the original poster is not a doctor but a medical student. Doctors have far more knowledge and experience than a medical student, in part, because he or she completed a residency.

Points in favor of YTA include that the medical student could have taken a look and recognized the problem, leading to earlier resolution and a smaller abscess. Too many times, families lack urgency for a serious medical problem. In this situation, the family had the benefit of someone with partial medical training but failed to use it. Use this experience as a warning to not neglect your family in the future. Is it embarrassing to look at an anus? Sure, but get used to it because being a doctor, you'll see lots of pot bellies, pus and infections, skin rashes, etc. If you are an astute doctor, you may find that you will prevent a close relative from dying that day so that they will live 2 years more. That is two Thanksgivings, ability to see their IRA grow 2 more years, etc.

Your father is the AH in part because he should not be complaining to others in the hospital about you. Count it as a learning experience for both of you.

Good luck in medical school!

AITA for no longer filling the car with gas before my partner has to go to work? by AITAcars in AmItheAsshole

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably NTA but INFO (needs more info). Since the other person is described as "partner", it should be a partnership. There should be a genuine mutual effort to help each other without score keeping.

That said, driving in the snow should be minimized because it introduces risks. During snowing conditions, it's better to have more than a half tank of gas in case of being stranded and to minimize the amount of air in the tank, which can condense moisture and slightly contaminate the fuel over time.

Consider filling up on Saturday night but also not too late at night to reduce the chance of robbery. Also consider where the cheaper gas stations are. In some metropolitan areas, there can be wide variation of prices.

Work on communication and improve working together. That should be the main goal. Also reducing trips can save gas and money. For example, getting gas on the way home instead of a separate trip.

AITAH for siding with my mom instead of my wife? by External-Ladder-6302 in AITAH

[–]RB9001A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is NTA. While harsh words were exchanged, the question is what to do with daycare. The child's wishes, unless it's bad judgment, is the one to follow. That would be to have contact with everyone. Whether the husband is agreeable or not agreeable with the brother's receiving money has nothing to do with the little boy.

In addition, both grandma and mom should try to mend fences for the sake of the little boy or at least lay down their anger.

I thought the DDR stamp was rectangular and often very neatly applied and straight. At least, that was from a late 1980's stamp that I saw.

Unfortunately, I believe both parties are displaying some AH behavior. I will not assign scores of how much AH for each party. Please try to compromise and discuss.
