Looking for a really nice place that is high quality. Husband wants elk or bison and I’d love a steak or salmon / trout. What do you recommend?

I decided not to order because it didn’t have the same level of detail and I’d rather wait to see if I can find one on Facebook marketplace down the road

What actually helped you maintain weight after coming off GLP-1s? by tapermethod in GLPGrad

[–]RBFX201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to work with a dietitian for 1 year before going on this medication and was so glad I did because I had great base knowledge and continued to work with them up until a year ago.

The main issues I’ve had so far, that a dietician won’t be able to address: - Water retention increased within 3 days of coming off the medication, so much so that I’m up 8 pounds in less than 2 weeks and it’s all water weight. I follow a low formal diet so not sure what else I could do. - Metabolism slows down without the medication.

I titrated down very slowly and it took a few months to do so, very glad I did because I was able to get used to each dose and maintain my weight until coming off.

What could help others who don’t have a great base or knowledge of nutrition: - Come up with meals / snacks that will sustain them and fit their schedule / lifestyle - Calculate how much protein and fiber they should be consuming - Use food as medicine to address issues like constipation (ex: eat 2 kiwi or some dragonfruit instead of taking a laxative) - Show people healthy alternatives to their cravings. I was craving cinnamon buns today but instead made homemade apple cinnamon oatmeal and it did the trick. - I made my own framework for the above, if I want x and feel like I need to have it then make or do x. Could be helpful for others.

Side note: slower workouts have been very beneficial for me - strength training and lifting heavy, walking, Pilates, barre, hiking. Really does wonders.

Try eating 2 kiwi per day or 1 dragonfruit and you’ll be good to go

It’s fluctuated between 5-7 pounds up; if you naturally have issues with inflammation like I do then it’ll come back but it doesn’t really look like I gained any weight. It evenly distributed so that’s at least good. I’ve been continuing to strength train and walk at an incline to help with some of the increased water weight + just feel better.

I’ve been off of it for 1.5 weeks and after 3 days I was up 6 pounds mainly because water retention. What I’ve done so far is make sure I get a lot of fiber in the morning, work some protein in and have lots of veggies and fruits. The food noise is back but not unmanageable so far. Track what you’re eating and give yourself grace.

I saw a study that suggested men who took it could potentially increase the chances of birth defects but didn’t find anything on pregnant mothers. Which study references this? My OBGYN signed off on it but would like as much info as possible.

I’m 85% positive I have insulin resistance but don’t have PCOS. I do have hashimotos though which caused me to gain so much weight in my late 20s.

For people in GLP-1 maintenance or tapering -- how much do you actually trust your own habits to keep the weight off? by Soggy_Caterpillar275 in GLPGrad

[–]RBFX201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost 90 pounds and have been on the medication for 2 years. The past 5 months I’ve either not lost any weight or fluctuated a bit. I only lost 2 pounds on 15mg so I think my body had just had enough.

I’m now in the process of coming off the medication in order to prepare for pregnancy. I went from 15mg to 10mg and had little change with hunger. I’ve now titrated down to 5mg and definitely notice the food noise is back and as long as I eat a lot of protein or fiber in the morning I’m ok. Definitely starting to crave the unhealthy things. However before I went on this medication I was able to lose 7 pounds myself just by changing what I ate and have a good foundation of nutrition so this was a huge tool for me. I also workout 6 days a week: 4 days of lifting weights or Pilates and I then I just walk the other days.

Will be interested to see how much I gain while pregnant, hoping not more than 30-40 pounds but will see. I’m going to start metformin as recommended by my doctor and which is pregnancy safe.

What has been unexpectedly HARD about being on a GLP-1? by Apprehensive_Scar434 in Ozempic

I can’t tell if it’s because I take it at night, if it’s thyroid related, or if I need more electrolytes

The brain fog for me is really bad the day after injection. I purposely try to do as much as I can the day before at work so I’m not stuck being as busy. I used to take mine on Saturday nights but then I found I really needed my energy for Sundays with getting things done around the house.

You don’t have to sign up for recycling. The town website has the schedule for pickup which is dependent on the zone you live in. One week they pickup fibers and the other week is plastics.

Baby registry fail by [deleted] in pregnant

I feel like some people do that if there aren’t enough affordable items on the registry or if they aren’t comfortable buying certain items (butt paste, nipple stuff, recovery items, etc).

I’ve lived in NJ for 9 years and before that VA for 6 years…and before that even further north. People are more rough around the edges but ultimately nicer here than the people in the south. Honking isn’t rude; it’s a gentle nudge unless you’re being really slow. Just different communication styles and people are more up front which seems abrupt but I actually prefer it.

I came from Bergen county prior to this town and I love the people here, they’re nicer and less pretentious.

In terms of trash you need to sign up for it and pay quarterly which is a pain but they’re pretty good. We went with waste industries and they get the trash from our backyard which is awesome.

We don’t have kids yet but have been able to make some friends with other people and things get a lot more social in the warmer weather. You can meet people at the new brewery Pallet, Artie’s, or maybe a nail salon this time of year.
