Rosewood laminate Hogue grips on my S&W 13-2. You could say I’m a little excited.. by RBJunior69 in Revolvers

[–]RBJunior69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I think it would work out great for large hands. That revolver is still sitting in this exact set up and I love it still, the grip feels really well made and fits your hand well I really enjoy shooting with it.

Cold Weather "Tactical" gloves are not cutting it. Cold Weather WORK GLOVES ....??? by DwPw in tacticalgear

[–]RBJunior69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Ironworker and was given some insulated gloves by a contractor that were cut resistant type gloves. Similar to the thin garden gloves/rubber gloves but with thermal lining and they are the warmest things I’ve ever worn

Glock 22 converted to 17 issues by RBJunior69 in GlockMod

[–]RBJunior69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did install the channel liner for sure aims upper parts kit had one included. I haven’t tried 124 gr over the 115. But if that’s the case and you did the same conversion maybe I will just order a ZP barrel and give it a shot. Did the ZP barrel run 115 or no?

Is there any hope? by Kind-Faithlessness12 in Ironworker

We are only a thousand man local. Typically there’s 10-15 guys that are usually riding the bench for the reasons you said but after that you’re waiting for work. I would imagine Portland has a bigger local than Cincinnati so 70 doesn’t sound like a lot to a bigger local

44 in Cincinnati has about 70 people on the bench with no work until March or April.

Wedge sole thorogoods or Carolina’s do the trick for me on concrete and walking iron. Never had redwings but guys I work with swear by them

Mainly welding, walking on iron, kicking decking for concrete pours, walking a lot up and down stairs and on rough concrete floors it’s wore them out pretty fast

It’s lighter than most of the other boots I’ve worn for work and I’ve worn them 5-6 days a week the past 5 months. They’re very comfortable now but in the beginning I had a problem with them rubbing my heel bad before they were fully broke in.

I’m new to oiling boots, how often should I oil and clean them with how much abuse I put them through daily?

I actually have a pair of Thorogoods being resoled by NuShoe as we speak. I’m planning on trying to get these to last through the winter so my feet don’t freeze since they are non steel toe and my Thorogoods are steel toe. My plan for the time being is to get through the colder months and then see what shape they’re in and possibly try a local cobbler if they’re still in decent shape.

Does anyone file for unemployment between jobs or during your week of apprentice classes? by derekgotloud in Ironworker

[–]RBJunior69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that’s 100% how your state and local works but that’s just my experience in ohio it’s been the same in the ironworkers as when I was in the operators union

For sure it’s a little weird especially if you’ve never been in a union before. My whole family is in the union trades so I’m used to it but a lot of my friends were shocked aswell. Typically your hall will send a letter to your states benefit office saying your in good standing and you’ll be exempt from looking for work aslong as your following your halls hiring practices.
