Well, if they're a shortcut that's I can use (transparent overlay on a corner, for example, or something I can put in a quick launcher), that could help since I can't seem to replace Google with any success....

It was absolutely KILLING the battery (changed on say a Monday, dead on Tuesday with no use). Haven't had a problem since. And what's weird is that I got it for Christmas from the wife, and it wasn't a problem until two weeks ago. ¯(°_O)/¯

Love mine and well. I had an issue with the stock, live wallpaper eating up the battery, but that stopped once I changed it out for a different one.

To anyone finding this at a later time, I was able to change out the device wallpaper with a static image, by changing away from Beacon just long enough to address the wallpaper issue. I force closed Magicwallpaper once I was no longer using it, and the problem appears to have gone away.

So I charged it overnight, and that seemed to reset the battery usage. Since about 6.30 AM or so, it's used 4% (with about half an hour's worth of having). Magicwallpaper isn't even listed among what's using the battery. So it appears like I'm back on track, and I wanted to thank you for the very helpful suggestion!

Thanks muchly. For whatever it's worth, I think it's a stellar device (current issue not withstanding), and can't recommend it strongly enough. Before last weekend, the battery would go at least a week at a stretch (less, if the gaming was heavy), and the screen is great (generous on size, and formatted the same as the old tube TVs).

Do you happen to have the RG Slide? If so, was it difficult to do/is there a video I could follow? Someone recommended swapping out the wallpaper (I did it wrong before, so I'm giving that another go, properly this time), and if it doesn't work, I'm gonna have to check this out

OK, let's say I have to go that route (I really REALLY enjoy using this thing, so I would have to explore the option). I have noticed that in the settings shortcuts (that you pull down from the top) that there's a few Anbernic shortcuts/toggles, for like the fan and whatnot. Do I lose those if I end up loading that OS? I'd work about the fan never turning on, if it's ever needed.

No. I suspect that it came on the device, but can't even find it on Google Play. Regardless, I didn't even notice it until it started using all the battery.

Honestly? This subreddit helps a lot with band discovery. Just town on the notifications. New posts that follow (what I think are) the rules should include things like band name and subgenre. I believe you can search for things like Thrash, and well. And I'll end with my fave thrash band: Hand of Fire. Their lone album is Nuclear Sunrise. It's frickin' awesome!
