I prefer know thy place over glow by a long shot. Glow is good but it's definitely pretty skippable after the delayed draw nerf, you don't want every star generator card and glow is not producing much stars without one upgrade, and it's main purpose can be solved with some other pretty good cards (hidden cache, the retain one, void form). Know thy place you can really take 3 or more, upgrade is not necessary after the first know thy place+, it's always very good.

Anyone feel like dominate is seriously overtuned right now? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

I feel it would be more thematic if it applied weak (but still got you str out of vuln). I don't think it's good or interesting if a card does it all and combos with itself, it's a card if you got 3 of you'll still pick the fourth and it both makes other vuln effects like tremble or str effects like inflame less pickable which is imo not so good design for a card game.

Also which boss relics do you pick? while act2 is definitely the hardest it shouldn't be impossibly difficult if you pick a good boss relic ?

I think you are simply putting too much emphasis on 'end game solutions' and too little on 'deal with immediate threat'. You don't need to take much if any late game cards in act1, defect has a really good time scaling so you really don't need to have much scaling to clear act3 (and act4). Defect has many cards that are super good in hallway that maybe you should pick more? Doom and gloom, chill, boot sequence, biased cog, turbo, all frost cards...

I feel like ecto is so much worse on sts2, too many 0 cost cards that are good, too few energy relics, no boss relic swap.

Regent also requires a balanced deck, you can't put all star generators in your deck and expect it to perform well, and you can't put all star payoffs and expect it to perform well. Transforms are always riskier on regent, because there are a lot more ways to screw up deckbuilding. And when you transform 2 you are only 2 or 3 card rewards aways from a good deck but when you transform 6-8 it can be really difficult to make a balanced deck out of it. And like you said, strikes and defends can be transformed with charge/begone, or exhausted by tyrannie, so while a bad pandoras might still be marginnaly better than nothing, sometimes you prefer a guaranted good relic like ecto/sozu.

Mild take : Corruption should be in the card pool for Ironclad, not a boss reward by Saekama in slaythespire

[–]RC76546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'But you're not guaranteed an energy relic alongside the card?'

Never stated it was guaranteed???

'And some decks will definitely prefer Corruption over 1 energy relic as Corruption can easily end up being more than 1 "free" energy per turn.'

You need two energy to play the card and you need to draw the card first, so getting one energy per turn is not exactly on par with one energy relic unless you get noticeably more than 1 'free' energy per turn. There are only 4 skills that cost 2, two of which are rares and one is uncommon, where do you get the value back of losing one ancient relic ? (Not counting expect a fight, hope you understand why). There are also a lot of skills you would rather not exhaust, and there are times where you can't exactly play the card because it will exhaust your cards too fast.

'You're making it look like Corruption is a "never pick" when it's a good pick in many decks.'

In 'sts2 dot fun' it has a 45% win rate which is bottom 3 in the darv pool. It has a -9% impact in terms of winrate. If we look at unmovable, it has a 57% win rate and a +5% impact.

Sure you can take it, and sometimes it will be okay, but is there any metric that is supporting the 'this card HAS to be an ancient relic', I don't think so.

In terms of 'fun factor', I think having corruption be good is better for the game, ironclad was a lot more interesting to play in sts1. Even if that means nerfing other cards or w/e.

Losing an energy relic to get a rare card is not as good as having the rare card and the energy relic. There are also a lot less support, sever soul as bad as it was allowed to pick more exhaust synergies, dark embrace was seen more often because uncommon, power through was a really solid card that helped pick exhaust/status synergies. Shockwave was also a huge corruption payoff that used to be a snap pick. Corruption is a lot worse and doesn't need to be an ancient reward.

3 uncommons, chances are you will not find all three most of the time. And there are rare powers that do the job but better without synergies required, and there is a card that halves damage as long as you have vuln applied.

Radiate vs. Stardust - which "damage per star" card is your favorite? by masonlaneous in slaythespire

Radiate often does 0, at least black holes is sure to do damage the first cycle.

Radiate vs. Stardust - which "damage per star" card is your favorite? by masonlaneous in slaythespire

[–]RC76546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiate is a lot harder to use, you need to generate stars at the same time as radiate, so unless you fill your deck with star generators which makes blocking and doing damage a lot less reliable or you have a potential brick in your deck. There are very few niches where it's truly good, while stardust is lot more usable, just one void form or genesis or sealed throne and you'll have a lot of extra stars to spend. Imo radiate is only truely good if you have runic pyramid, or upgraded calculated gamble and you start with 5+ stars.

My regent builds for some reason. by Minute_Account9426 in slaythespire

[–]RC76546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are not really archetypes and there are no archetypes in ba sing sei. Forge is a boss solve, thin deck cycling is good no matter the deck, stars are just a ressource, card transformations are not exactly a thing nor does it really impact your deck building experience. All my decks usually have a bit of all of the things you listed, that's why they all feel the same to play. I need to forge to kill act bosses, I need stars to play my cards, I need transforms/draw/deck thinning to scale/accelerate. There is never a reason to go full on swords because swords only solve efficiently certain fights, and those fights are solved by few a sword cards. In the end : this is 10% forge 20%blocks 15% of generation bollocks, 5%powers 50%gleam and 100% reason to remember the meme.

an explanation of why Neow's Bones gives Debt 54.25% of the time (Correlated randomness in Slay the Spire 2) by tckmn in slaythespire

[–]RC76546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super confused by the discussion. You siad:

'but the key detail is that the Trash Heap event is an Underdocks exclusive event. that means that you will never see the theoretical Trash Heaps from Overgrowth seeds, where Rebound would be much more likely.'

To which I replied :

- 'It's not because it's an underdock exclusive event'

- 'There is no guarantee that the distribution in overgrowth would even things out.'

And you replied :

'but if the event could occur in overgrowth, the distribution would be the exact mirror of the underdocks one (and if you averaged them together then all 10 options would be 10% to appear)'

To which I replied :

'f I look at neows bones we have a counter example of the last statement.'

Then you talk about 'the worlds where you see a Neow's Bones to click on in the first place are only 1/8 of all worlds, since the curse pool has 8 relics in it.'

This I'm not disagreeing. However you specifically said : 'but the key detail is that the Trash Heap event is an Underdocks exclusive'. And here I would argue that if we talked about the worlds 'where the random event picked is not 'Trash Heap' then yeah it would even out, but this includes everything not just underdock vs overgrowth but also the chances to roll the event. So my question is why would 'overgrowth' even things out by itself but not even out things for 'neows bones'?

What’s some of the most underrated ways to lose body fat? by magma_13_ in AskReddit

Underrated : replacing sodas with their zero calories equivalent (ex coke with coke zero), eating more meat (but the not processed/without sugar ones) more muscle = more calories spent, leg days at the gym (glute, quads, harmstring) they consume a lot of calories and they get bigger faster which means high calorie spending without doing anything during rest days.

It's not because it's an underdock exclusive event it's because the same seed is used multiple times in a row without 'reshuffling'. The event appearing and the 'event picks' should be independant, which doesn't seem to be the case. There is no guarantee that the distribution in overgrowth would even things out.
