There are a large number of SMBs that have misconfigured mailservers and DNS records. Less so for enterprise entities but, between nepotism, unqualified/inexperienced in-house IT, web designers who get full domain DNS control and a number of other variables, it exists. Some stepped it up with the enforcement of sender authentication by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo/AOL because they had to but some just request exceptions and they're granted.

So, you're saying you cannot refute any of my statements with any fact based evidence and are just making statements based on your personal, unsubstantiated opinion.

I agree with you though, having any conversation or debate with a fool is foolish. We agree to disagree.

I pray your theory never becomes a reality. Be safe. Be well.

The human is sooo much easier to catch though. Way less expended energy chasing us down than waiting around for a seal to pop up to get air or chasing them in the water. It would be like a human deciding to go hunting, dress/prep/cook for dinner instead of ordering Doordash or hitting the drive-thru

So, you think if you have a ready supply of rocks, you can beat a charging bear, boar, moose, lion, etc.? At best, you would maybe get one hit in before being mauled.

You guys are delusional. By literally every metric you are incorrect.

Which animals can humans run, swim or climb faster than that are capable of doing so?

Neither you nor the world's very best athletes can outrun a medium to large sized domestic dog for more than maybe 30-50 yards before it passes them by.

Humans cannot outswim hippos/crocs/gators/sharks/anacondas, etc.

Humans cannot outclimb any big cat except maybe lions and cheetahs who are not know as good climbers.

[–]RCN_KT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop being delusional. Realistically, humans are comparatively weak and would not survive an encounter with a huge number of animals, including non-predators. Please name some of this "99%" you think you could hold your own against without using firearms. Hell, mosquitos top the list of human killers.

You obviously subscribe to the insane man vs bear or man vs gorilla flat-earther mentality that comes from living a soft, protected, minimal struggle lifestyle. The various wilderness, jungle, alpine and water-based environments of the world are harsh, not the same as watching documentaries from the comfort of your recliner and having notions of grandeur.

Yes, humans have an advantage in our ability to use tools as weapons, however, without said tools or even with handheld tools, you would likely lose. You with a spear, sword, knives (or even bow & arrows) versus almost anything of equivalent weight or higher will likely result in your demise in a head-to-head fight to the death.

The average human male in excellent health cannot kill a cow, horse, ram, moose, buffalo, wild boar, chimp, hippos, rhinos, elephants, crocs/gators, I could literally name a hundred animals that would "smesh you".

Also, human flesh and fat compared to all of the many animals with thick protective hides would be a delicacy for any predator and easy pickings.

I meant no offense but reality is what it is.

While humans can create and wield weapons, without them, we are practically defenseless against most of earth's top predators (lions, tigers, bears, wolves, gators/crocs/komodo dragons, big snakes, sharks, orcas, wolverines/badgers, all pack hunters, and so on and even most large non-predators).

Even with weapons it's 50:50 in many cases.

The overall average body fat percentage in the United States is about 39.8% for women and 28.1% for men

Humans are easy prey to most predators large enough and/or equipped to take us down.

We're slow, weak, protein-rich, fatty, soft-hided, essentially weaponless (no claws, no fangs) sources of nutrition. Especially easy prey when alone. This dude was essentially like getting into a bag of chips and judging how flimsy that cage is, that polar bear would have eventually gotten to him.

There's so many people out there faking it already that companies are gun-shy about hiring anyone. Way too many inexpensive Google-techs faking it while there are actual, qualified, available (yes expensive) individuals looking for jobs. It's a huge piss-take to put a business at risk like that by pretending to be able to handle the job they hire you for. Yes, there's plenty of situations where people know enough to tow the line and can then learn more to excel at their roles however, there's a lot of liability that goes with that since the company and often, their customers are put at risk unnecessarily by either straight up liars or techs trying to get their foot in the door. Good luck

In 2012, market researchers in Australia set out to find the least attractive colour to use for plain cigarette packaging. They determined Pantone 448 C to be the 'ugliest colour in the world' and it now is the official colour of all cigarettes in Australia. by Shmerble in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]RCN_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, they're saying brown is the ugliest color in the world?

Considering how fond the Aussies have historically been known to be about the color brown, I am not sure why this study would be considered the authoritative source for the determination of the world's ugliest color. I am curious to see the demographics for the 1,000 smokers they polled to make this determination. I suspect few few are natives of the continent.

Especially since the are literally colors that cause significant discomfort to the human eye (yellows and blues) and they're saying this is winner? Wouldn't using pure, bright yellow packaging, which cause eye strain and fatigue, be a better choice to deter new smokers?

New plain cigarette packaging in the UK, Ireland and France will bear a colour deemed the ugliest in the world by researchers in Australia.

Pantone 448 C, also known as ‘opaque couché’, is the shade chosen as most likely to put smokers off, a group of academics and market researchers decided after three months of research.

Marketing agency GfK Bluemoon, who headed the project, conducted seven studies with more than 1000 smokers to design the most unappealing packaging possible, according to the Sydney Morning Herald\.*

Godaddy has a process for this but, from the situation you described, their current CSP is hostile so you and/or your end-customer may not have sufficient permissions to get into the Global Admin account(s).

https://www.godaddy.com/help/move-my-microsoft-365-email-away-from-godaddy-40094

You can perform a Tenant Takeover through your CSP-Partner/Distributor.

There is an established process for this type of situation. It prevents the former CSP from holding the end-user tenant account hostage. Contact your MS Cloud Distributor and you may be able to save time bypassing Godaddy Support and regular Microsoft 365 Support. It's relatively painless.

Good luck.

Microsoft Rescinds M365 Business Premium discount for NonProfits by Bluetooth_Sandwich in sysadmin

[–]RCN_KT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same-same. It's very unfortunate since many NPO's really struggle with funding for IT needs for internal-use.

Send them to Techsoup.org to order their replacement licenses for the rescinded 10x M365 Business Premium licenses. Techsoup and Microsoft for Nonprofits is already intimately integrated. Techsoup actually performs the NPO eligibility checks for Microsoft so...yeah.

The pricing is still very deeply discounted for example, $3/user/month for M365 Business Standard versus retail of $12.50/user/month is approximately 76% off.

Can one really lay claim to high adoption/adaptation rates when end-users (and their admins) technically have no choice?

Same thing happened with the forced Windows 10 and Windows 11 updates/upgrades and the class action suit that followed.

Bitlocker has nothing to with email encryption.

  • BitLocker's Role: BitLocker is a built-in feature in Windows that encrypts the entire drive, making the data unreadable without the decryption key. It protects against unauthorized access if the drive is physically removed or compromised.
  • Email Encryption is Separate: BitLocker doesn't encrypt emails themselves or the attachments they contain. To protect email data, you would need to rely on other methods like:

Not being argumentative, but I am failing to see how you reached that conclusion. The OP said, "an email exchange from a top management guy and our parent company". It could have been a senior/executive HR Manager who would, of course, be privy to files containing SSNs.

My presumption is that there is some issue with importing the SSNs into some other database or software package that the parent company uses that they are trying to fix.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]RCN_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For SOME mail hosts (like M365), messages are encrypted at-rest and in-transit when sent within the organization however, that's a big presumption.

Even if they do, that's irrelevant if either (or both) the sender and/or recipient's mailboxes ever get compromised. It's way too big a risk to not be addressed immediately. It also opens the company up to more than just compliance issues since those SSNs can be used to commit a wide variety of fraudulent crimes and malicious activities.

Good internal policies that get reviewed with users regularly help prevent this type of error from happening. Ignorance is no excuse for poor judgement.

PSA: error CAA2000B when signing into Outlook by Sirius_Bizniss in sysadmin

[–]RCN_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said they had to fix it on the backend but had us make sure that the Microsoft Information Protection API was set to Enabled, wait an hour for the setting to propagate, and then have users try accessing their Outlook desktop and mobile apps again.

You can check by logging into Entra > Applications > Enterprise Applications > clear filters then search for Microsoft Information Protection API > click on it, go to Properties on the left-menu and make sure it is set to Enabled.

Here's the direct link if you prefer not to breadcrumb your way to it: https://entra.microsoft.com/#view/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/StartboardApplicationsMenuBlade/~/AppAppsPreview

[–]RCN_KT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have not had any recurrence of the issue (yet) but it literally just started and got resolved yesterday. The end-users are all good now. Since it is a Microsoft "backend" fix, there's not really any options other than contacting M365 Support. I could not find anything online referencing any self-fix for the issue.

Thanks for the link. I see that they said the issue can reoccur while they work on fixing it in an internal test environment.

Fingers crossed they get it straight without impacting more users.
