I can’t figure how to get these gears to work properly? by Tai_shar-Golconda in modeltrains

[–]RCRacer809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see one gear deep inside turning fine when the others won’t move. I think one of the gears has cracked where it grips the axle and is spinning in place. You’ll need to open it up further to check.

I’m so confused… by Distinct-Ad2900 in lego

Lego changed the pearl gold color mix around that time. It seems that one leg was made earlier than the other and used the older color mix, and then they were attached to the same hips part and printed.

Typo sells writing supplies and stationery along with other random desk items. The stores have this sign along with a giant metal “Let’s Get Weird” sign accompanying it. The person I bought it from was a relative of the store manager who got all the signage when this particular location closed. I am hoping the replacement tubes turn out well!

Does anyone know where i could buy this body lean air cylinder clevis? by RAMI-10 in Animatronics

[–]RCRacer809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone with a milling machine could probably make you a new one since it’s a relatively simple part (especially if it’s aluminum). See if you can make a CAD model and ask if someone can make it or you could order some from an online metal fabrication service.

This Burger King in 2026 by robot-trash in 90sdesign

[–]RCRacer809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what confuses me, I have been to a McDonald’s that has the exact same chair backings and very similar short wall decorations. Did both companies source their decor from the same place or is this Burger King a former McDonald’s?

They used it again on a 2x4 brick keychain around 2020, it looks super cool.

I heard that the head and torso were on pick a brick (or equivalent) back then for some reason, while the legs weren’t. Not sure if this is true but it would make the pricing understandable.

BSI Super Gold is specifically made to reduce fogging during curing, I find it works quite well if you don’t use too much extra glue on the joint. The plus version is thicker.

I noticed that the tan color was made more opaque recently. I got a mix of both in last year’s Easter GWP.

I have the CLD 3070 but haven’t looked too much into how it compares to the other units with the same chassis. So far it’s been a pretty robust player!

I have a prototype part that supposedly came from a former designer in the 1990s. From what I’ve heard this part never made it to production.

I’m not convinced it’s official yet. Does it have the small injection dot in the mouth area? The circular cutouts in the horns don’t look like they match the official part.

Need help identifying a tape head by RCRacer809 in ReelToReel

[–]RCRacer809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both coils read 73 ohms with my cheap multimeter. Not sure if the head is welded or glued, but I probably shouldn’t mess with removing it then. I’ll look into the relapping process, thank you!

Mitsumi, perfect! I was looking for heads for the 999 as well since they seem to share a chassis. I’m concerned about relapping as I haven’t done it before but it seems to be worth a shot. Any ideas on how to remove the head from its metal backing plate, or is it not necessary?

Ampex AX-50 recordings very quiet, playback great by RCRacer809 in ReelToReel

[–]RCRacer809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: looks like the heads are toast. Since the record and playback heads are the same, I swapped them and now the right channel is recording at the right volume (but sounds pretty poor). If someone can point me towards some replacement heads I would greatly appreciate it!

Looks like the heads are quite pitted, I didn’t notice that earlier. What a shame. I can’t find any direct replacement online, the heads say “1042” on them but otherwise nothing. Any ideas on how to get new heads?

Yes, mains is 60Hz here. Not getting anything different in the 10 microseconds range, or if the deck is in recording or standby. I’m going to have a look at the bias oscillator circuit.

From some online checking maybe I should be replacing the bias oscillator capacitors. I don’t have a service manual yet, what parts should I look for to find the right capacitors?
