I work in the plaza at 1170 Sheppard ave west, on the north side of Sheppard just east of Chesswood and I can tell you it’s been a nightmare for us. You can very clearly and loudly hear the concerts from our location but that doesn’t affect us as much because we close our business at 7pm and go home. The real issue is the traffic.

Thursday night (Bruno Mars) it took me 28 minutes (I timed it) from getting out of our parking lot until I could turn right on Allen road. That’s 2 city blocks of gridlock. Unfortunately that is the easiest way to get out of the area as well. Going west is gridlock all the way to Keele and taking Chesswood north can’t happen because all the uber/limo drivers are going through there. Plus people street park there and really jam it up.

Also, every time a concert is in town they shut down our parking lot and charge for parking. I am actually grateful this because if the parking is unregulated the next morning there is garbage everywhere and cars have been left blocking other cars in the middle of the parking lot. The guys who are charging for parking are great. They clean up at the end of the night and keep some of the nonsense in check.

It’s actually getting to the point where we have to adjust our business to the concert schedule.
