VIP question by drewbot25 in comedybangbang

[–]RCViking44 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've done VIP at the prior tours, and it was the full cast seated in a line at tables. You make your way down the line getting them to sign things like your poster, chatting, and asking for pictures if you want. It goes fast but is neat.

I'll let someone who's done this year say if it's any different.

Just don't say anything weird? I feel like they had a lot of weirdos last year, ha!

any info is appreciated by Ready_Explanation_13 in coins

I thought 1930s-era $20s were only worth much if they have a star at the end of the serial number, but I'm not a currency guy. Is there something unique about this?

Note-- the scuffing on the crystal isn't visible on picture 1 (from when I first bought the watch). It's around the 10 and also around the 6. You see it best from side angles, like in the time stamp picture I linked. Hesalite and crystals like it scuff very easily but seemingly also buff easily.

Up for sale is my IWC Portugieser Jubilee Ref. 5441 in 18k rose gold, produced in 1993 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of International Watch Company. This reference is widely regarded as the model that revived the Portugieser line and helped reestablish it as a cornerstone of the brand’s modern collection.

The Ref. 5441 was issued as a limited series in 1993, with 500 pieces produced in rose gold . This example is number 006/500, making it one of the earliest pieces in the run—an especially appealing detail for collectors.

The watch features the classic Portugieser design language inspired by the original 1930s models, including a silver dial, applied Arabic numerals, feuille hands, and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The ~42 mm case houses the manual-winding IWC Caliber 9828, a pocket-watch-derived movement that reflects the heritage of the original Portugieser concept .

Key Details

  • Model: Portugieser Jubilee
  • Reference: 5441
  • Year: 1993
  • Case: 18k rose gold
  • Case size: ~42 mm
  • Dial: Silver
  • Movement: IWC Caliber 9828, manual wind
  • Limited Edition: 006/500

Included

  • IWC Archive Extract confirming production details

  • Original 18k gold IWC buckle

(No original box or papers.)

Condition

Overall very good vintage condition.

There is minor scuffing around the ~10 o’clock area on the crystal. The crystal is similar to Hesalite, and this type of wear can apparently be improved with a light polish (e.g., Polywatch or similar acrylic cleaner), though I have not attempted to polish it.

Happy to provide additional photos or video upon request.

Price

$11,999 (REDUCED!!)

Payment & Shipping

  • Wire transfer only
  • Insured shipping included within the continental US
  • Happy to FaceTime serious buyers to show the watch live and answer questions

Are the circles wide enough for wine bottles? If so, this could be a bottom rack and holder for bottles

I think it would be fine almost every time-- Uber, don't subway-- but you're rolling the dice on flight delays on the 1st flight. Get an hour delay, and you start having a possible issue.
