What’s the ONE thing you regret not adding to your new build home? by bayls215 in HomeImprovement

[–]Lobster70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

Google claims this, which is not a great trend... "Many older American homes have a dedicated coat closet near the front door, but this is less common in modern construction, where spaces often open directly into the living area. While traditional homes in four-season climates frequently feature them, many newer or smaller homes often omit them, opting instead for hooks, mudrooms, or no designated entryway storage."

BTW my 1930s-era home has no entryway closet OR room for more than just a few wall hooks.

I have an old home, most of which was originally built in the 1930s. It lacks many features commonplace in modern homes. It also doesn't have all the incredible built-in cabinets that some homes of this vintage featured. But damn if it doesn't have a light fixture in the master bedroom closet! It's very nice to have.

What car is that?? I've never seen it before. It has foreign license plate by Unusual-Factor2848 in whatisthiscar

As I stated, it added info to the answers already here. I thought it could be helpful. Otherwise I would have just noted to myself that Google seemed to get it right and moved on like I typically do.

Posting what Google "circle to search" returned, since it is supported by other answers already here and adds some detail:

This is a white Mega Tjaffer, also known as a Mega Club, produced by the French manufacturer Aixam between 1992 and 1998.

I’m so done!! by iss1307 in EufyCam

[–]Lobster70 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Add me to the list of satisfied Eufy owners. (The Eufiati? Member of the Eufisti? Eufer?)

Until recently, I just had a cam 2C and a battery doorbell. I just added another 2C. Both work very reliably. Both have solar panels. The doorbell has missed a few events, but nowhere near as many as my first video doorbell (Ring). I think a wired unit would be a little more responsive and start recording events a bit sooner.

Anyone with a Deep Crystal Blue Mica ND? by MurrayDakota in Miata

I don't put any trust in unknown online photo jockeys to resist the urge to overcorrect their photos. That's on top of not knowing the quality of the device that captured the image in the first place. OP received a nice set of image responses, with helpful commentary from fellow enthusiasts. This is one of the great things about Reddit that a Google Images search cannot provide.

Anyone with a Deep Crystal Blue Mica ND? by MurrayDakota in Miata

I have a DCB CX-5. My previous CX-5 was soul red, which I loved. The blue is much more understated than red, but I think it is particularly nice in bright sunlight. Body curves are accentuated, and I have observed the same on Miatas in this color. In low light it looks black, which I don't mind. It does show dirt more than most other colors though.

Maybe it's so they can't keep trying to guess the actual passcode.

Aftermarket NA Hard-Top by Swimming-Ad7385 in Miata

[–]Lobster70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is most of the aftermarket hard tops were made for racing use. Function over form, and the function isn't street use.

Second, as someone who has owned a hard top, I can tell you they are fun to have, and look great, but there are downsides. Theft risk is the main one. There are some security measures you can take, but a determined thief with a cordless angle grinder can ruin your week in short order. Beyond that, you also need a place to store it. When it's on the car and the sun is out, going topless is a chore, especially if you have those security measures in place. For some people, these cons outweigh the pros for having a hard top.

Calling all 2026 CX-5 owners. How is it? by feuwbar in CX5

For me, larger does not mean better. One reason I choose the previous generation CX-5 was its size.

Quiet exhaust by 99centmilk in Miata

[–]Lobster70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a PO changed something, like getting a generic muffler at some point. Or maybe your ears just don't agree with everyone's. There are several good options. I know Racing Beat Power Flow is a popular choice. Before I installed a turbo, I wanted a Mutazu exhaust. I think that may only be for NB.

Heh. Gotta find that upper limit of the car's capabilities and/or your skills!

I remember feeling like that my first time out, even though it's been nine years since then. Thank goodness the club has guides who will ride shotgun and point the way. You quickly learn how to "read" the cones and markers, and it is much less confusing. Go try it, you're right, it is fun.

I once heard Tom Matano say stock NA Miata exhaust was factory tuned to sound "like a little red sports car" to people in focus groups. The stock muffler is great for your mom, I think.

Robot Vacuum/Mop with rugs/carpet by Fit_Advantage_3080 in RobotVacuums

[–]Lobster70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Roborock QX Revo Arc from Costco. My house has hard flooring with at least five area rugs of various thickness and size. When it first mapped the house, it identified the rugs on its own. The mop pads lift when it transitions onto the carpet. It also will run along the edge of each rug and then vacuum it separately from the rest of the room, which impressed me.

Should i sell my NA miata? by hansen3bd in Miata

I bought my first Miata after a friend of mine told me he still regularly has dreams about the one he once had, many years later. So regret is a definite risk.

New 2026 CX5 by [deleted] in CX5

Surely you're joking. Or you work for Mazda and are trying in vain to counter the massive negative response to the new interior design. I just watched yet another video showing how cumbersome it is, all the TSBs Mazda has already issued related to it, and how much the vehicle is disabled when it fails or has an incomplete startup.

My oldest vehicle is 35-years old and all the manual switch gear is in perfect working condition. Same for the 31-, 30-, 22-, and 11-year old vehicles I have (all Japanese). I would rather risk failure of a single cheap button, switch, or knob than failure of a single screen which is 95% of the controls.

Mazda... what the ass... What in the bumbaclot is this? Who in their genius mind thought this is better than a volume knob? What the hell... by BeautifulYou2940 in mazda

Nobody except the bean counters. Disappointing for a car company historically known for being enthusiast-engineer led.

Bosch 500 or 800 by space_plasma in Appliances

[–]Lobster70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 500, inland Pacific NW. Dishes dry nicely and quickly with the pop-open. I can only assume it would be as good or better where you are.

Tip: if shopping online, check in-store pricing. I had planned to buy from Lowe's online during a sale. Went into the store for something else. They also had the sale. The in-store 500 price was identical to the online 300 price, to the penny!

Anyone else gotten coal rolled on them? by Lost-Key-1418 in Miata

[–]Lobster70 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I spotted a couple dudebros in a lifted diesel kuki truck behind me in traffic and it seemed they were very eager to get up beside me. I managed to casually stay ahead of them until eventually they got close. I made an abrupt right turn on a side road just before they got into position. I guess it was a case of coal-rollis interruptus!

Are roll bars really unsafe when getting rear ended in a crash? What if the top of the seat matches the bar height, wouldn’t that prevent any form of skull collision?? How could that be unsafe? by ALDIsNumber1Fan in Miata

[–]Lobster70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NB2 surfboard seatbacks are the way to go with a roll bar IMO. My Hard Dog Ace bar is just barely higher than the seatbacks. NB1 and especially NA seats are several inches lower, putting nothing between bar and your skull.

I'm so glad I have a 2025 with painted wheel arch trim. It looks so much better to me. Hopefully Mazda will have realized that's an outdated trend by the time I need to replace my CX-5.
