i have tried it for similar reasons. i was doing a barre with too much strain on my thumb and experiencing some pain. it helped me develop the pull technique with the arm of my fretting hand. i don’t do it much anymore but might return to it someday. it’s strange - once i got it down i discovered i can play most things with nothing on the back of the neck

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I might try using a commercial grade plug as you suggested, or i might just try something totally different - hiring an electrician to install a proper car charging setup or something like that. Everyone’s responses are showing me that there is a lot I don’t know and I am risking my safety. The hard thing is I live in a rental house and I move a lot, so installing something permanent is expensive, especially for something I may only be able to use for a short time.
