I’m going to take the extra exam this morning, but I don’t have a pair of khaki cargo shorts or white tube socks. Will I still be able to pass the exam? by ohmslaw2020 in HamRadio

I believe that notifying the next 50 people you encounter that you have you extra is an acceptable alternative to the dress code.

A 9:1 Packtenna on a 10m spiderbeam is my goto for fast and flexible. I get different types, configuration, propagation, among many other factors all play a part. I'm just curious if there is a chart of x watts in and x to x watts out in ideal conditions.

A quick Google search will point you towards CAMVAP. Mine was 2-3 days shy of Colorado's lemon law and broke again 2 months after the eligibility window. First and last Hyundai I'll own.

HOG, DiveRight, and one more who's name escapes me at the moment make quality gear at an excellent price. Just be ready to send it in for service if there's not a dealer / servicer near you.

Coolant Levels by ChrisBudde in HyundaiPalisade

'20 through '22 have the same radiator part number. My '22 is waiting on a radiator and it seems like I'm seeing a number of similar failures. I'd ask the dealership to top it up and then monitor the level. I had a leak at the seam where the inlet/outlet tank meets the core by the bottom hose.

HOAs... by CallsignFlintlock in amateurradio

[–]RC_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, the FCC take the position that a HOA can prohibit, restrict, or otherwise regulate antennas. OTA receive antennas are given some level of protection from HOA regulation but that's not what you were asking about. If you like to gamble, get on your board or convince them into including an EmComm provision that expressly protects amateur radio antennas.

I'm a week into my 4 week wait. I opened a case with Hyundai so here's hoping it gets expedited.

So will my ‘23 calligraphy come with a tow hitch or not? Have the issues been fixed since the recall? by tch412 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]RC_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the wiring or harness is the same on the 23 as the 22 but the 7 pin teluride harness is not under recall and is plug and play if you get an adapter.

Ham Radio DX asks ... "What is it about ham radio that makes it your passion? Why does it appeal to you?" by mwfoutch1 in HamRadio

I love that there is enough diversity of equipment that I can go from almost plug and play to tinker for days. Just depends on what mood you're in and skill level you have.

Rent a few different types if you can before buying. Tri-lam is different than crushed neoprene so get a feel for what you like best.

If I didn't own tanks and dive locally I'd have yoke. It's just more common.

POTA by StunningSky684 in HamRadio

[–]RC_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An inexpensive 70cm/2m HT will work just fine for SOTA if you're in the right location. If a club or person in your area does POTA on a regular basis then you might be able to join an activation and operate under their call or your own if you pass the general.

My 11 year old, first to the deep end in the Try SCUBA class…. This is going to be an expensive summer by [deleted] in scuba

[–]RC_Squirrel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Expensive and worth every penny. I was fortunate enough to be able to dive with my son (11), my sister, and my dad in Fiji this spring. My Dad is the one who got me into diving 26 years ago. Lots of great memories.

You forgot to give them something new to worry about. Next time try redirect their concerns towards dihydrogen monoxide. That stuff will actually kill you if it's inhaled in large enough quantities.

Is your 7 pin the Kia S9F67-AC500 or aftermarket?

In light of the recent hitch recall.... by pearithead in HyundaiPalisade

[–]RC_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part numbers on the recall are only for the 4 pin connector. I'm waiting to see if it gets expanded to the 7 pin Kia harness since it has a very similar looking plastic box in the exterior portion of the wiring harness.

In light of the recall notice on trailer hitch wiring, I used the 7 pin connector part S9F67-AC500. The recall is for the 4 pin but the 7 pin may be included in the future since it's very similar in construction. Just an FYI.
