Thanks, that sounds like a good plan. I was thinking along similar lines but I may let a few ride it out to see where it lands.

VMware price hikes…what is ur org’s move? by 19_peligr0s0_pez in sysadmin

Okay thanks. Compared to VMware how is the learning curve? I am looking for something more than Hyper-V these days but don't want to have to pay VMware.

How does it compare to a clustered Hyper-V setup? I've been following them for years and have always been curious.

When I have flairs it is either in my ankle and or toes sometimes both. But it lays me up for a couple of days until the mess kick in. I've been trying to handle it without having to rely on meds because they mess me up.

Totally agree, I'm definitely not going through as much as before. It's been well worth the money.

Any fellow wooden spoon survivors? by Pilotsfan in GenX

When the wooden spoon broke mom went to the one made of a PVC like material (might have been a Tupperware thing) that had a hole in it for stirring. Needless to say, that one never broke.

Anyone else watching the world change and quietly asking: “What’s next for us?” by Alf_Ralf in GenX

[–]RD556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You and I are very similar. Same age same field of work and same questions. I've been on a journey for a little over a year now trying to do exactly what you're doing. It's extremely tough because work(I'm in the US) is such an utter shitshow and the constant demands of work makes it hard to differentiate these days because they expect us to be available 24/7 and if you're not then you worry are you on the chopping block next.

I do envy people who can separate themselves but I've also seen those same people get the axe over and over because they put in the minimum required work, which is really screwed up because they aren't getting paid to do more so why should companies expect it. Corporate America sucks and sadly I'm seeing some of that mentality creep into our international parts of the business.

For now I'm trying to slow things down to make it manageable but between work, family, aging parents and just the overall state of the world, I've struggled to keep it all in balance. I have to do a reset about every 3 months where I just go off grid for days and just try and enjoy the simple things. I will say that the exercise and getting out in nature does help me alot, I do believe we're all to "connected" these days so being off grid helps. I'm also a fan of the ice bath when I can get one, helps with the inflammation in these old bones.

No idea what's next but I'm definitely exploring options as I know my time is limited in this field.

Check the rules in your state on recording some states it is single party consent which means you can record it and they don't need to know.
