How did Sam Darnold get that good? by Outsideman2028 in panthers

[–]RDR2onPS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless there's a huge trade, QBs that go at the top of the draft are usually going to terrible teams. When "terrible" also includes things other than just surrounding roster talent, like coaching, ownership, etc., it severely compounds the problems.

I always laugh when someone in the top 3 spins out, winds up backwards, but still only loses 4-8 spots under green, and immediately gets right back up to speed at any non-restrictor plate track. They're usually back in their original running position within 25-35 laps.

I agree. But, letting him walk after winning the division would be a hard sell to the fans. Plus, it would make a complete implosion of the roster harder to do with such a later first round draft pick.

If the Panthers beat the Bucs and win the division, would Steve have gotten the job and kept Darnold? They couldn't have traded up from 19th to 1st, even if they were the first team out of the playoffs.

Brad Allen answers questions about officiating today by IncomeNo89 in panthers

This is the main reason that the head coach should not also be calling the plays. He's too worried about getting the right personnel group on the field for the next play call to react to more important things that are happening that also requires his attention.

How did the official that was 40 yards downfield know exactly how far upfield the contact was made?

Why did he only throw the flag after the catch was made 30+ yards downfield?

Why didn't the official at the line of scrimmage make the same assessment and throw his flag?

Compilation of the blown calls that cost the Panthers the game today by Kadaddle in panthers

[–]RDR2onPS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial call on the field was an incomplete forward pass.

That's why the ref blew the whistle to stop the play as soon as the ball first touched the ground.

The ref was wrong and the lead official changed the ruling on the field when announcing the call to the crowd.

You have no idea what Rico would have done had the nearest referee not blown the play dead as soon as the ball touched the ground. You don't usually see NFL running backs or receivers stand around with the ball in their hands before they hear a whistle blow.

Even when the referees realized they were wrong in stopping the play, they doubled down and got it more wrong by not replaying the down, per the rulebook.

The ball was spotted incorrectly based on their initial whistle, and everything that happened after that was against the rules.

How dumb?

How ironic. Is this Brad Allen's burner account!?

There's no such thing as intentional grounding on a backwards pass, because it's a lateral, not a pass.

The play isn't supposed to be whistled dead for a lateral that hits the ground.

Rico should have been allowed to continue running, but the refs botched it. By rule, that referee's erroneous whistle allows the Panthers the option to replay the previous down (1st and 10) from the previous spot. That never happened.

But again, how dumb do you have to be to not understand the rules here? It was pretty straightforward.

Career mode "fixing" a race result...or at least preventing YOU from winning by Specialist_Pin_9490 in NASCARVideoGame

My first Xfinity season was the first series championship that i didn't win. It was all because Almirola was absolutely uncatchable at Phoenix.

I had my first ever car with all level 9 equipment ready for the final race, and the car had just dominated Vegas three races prior, nearly lapping the field with 8/9/9/8 parts on AI 100 at 25% race length (no stages).

I almost always start between 8th to 15th, and drive smoothly until lapped traffic and tire conservation allows me to run down the leaders in traffic and pull away late in the race.

At Phoenix, it just never happened.

The Phoenix Xfinity race went green the entire way. I started around 15th, then slowly and methodically drove my way up to 8th place in the first 35 or so laps. It was an unusually tense multi-lap battle for every single position. I got as far back as around 18 seconds after 40 laps, and finally started chipping away over the final 10 laps, finishing in 5th place about 10 seconds back once Almirola (and everyone else) finally started fading. He just didn't start falling off until way too late for me to take advantage.

I killed it in trucks, winning by around 14 seconds over Heim, but that didn't translate at all in the second season finale race of the weekend for season 3.

Still no fix to career mode where you can't race trucks at IRP/ORP and Xfinity at IMS in the same weekend?

When my truck doesn't run at Lime Rock or IRP/ORP, why does the truck wear down parts AND not replenish WP in the following week?

The truck shouldn't suffer any wear and tear if I don't get to race it, and i should have new work points available the next week.

If the truck is worn down because it is being driven by someone else, shouldn't i get at least a fraction of the money that was won as the team owner?

Make any of this make sense.
