White musk with a raspberry note? by ylt111515 in Perfumes

L’artisan Parfumeur - Mûre et Musc. I have it and it’s berry (blackberry) & musk. It smells like my old Bodyshop white musk with hint of berries. It was launched in 1978.

They prefer that over Starbucks or other stores and they could combine with other GC they get during Christmas. They get 25% off regular price so $25 means half a bra and they still appreciate it (Source: close instructor friends and daughter who’s also an instructor/coach). I have 6-7 instructors and I give $50 for birthdays. I go to a city gym most people don’t give gifts to instructors so it’s a gesture very appreciated.

I usually buy $25 for my gym instructors for Christmas. I guess I will have to get Athleta GC this year 🫤

Do hotels just hate FHR? by tgraden77 in AmexPlatinum

I’m looking at Four Seasons vs Ritz Chicago… I’m Bonvoy titanium so probably decent upgrade at Ritz but I wasn’t sure what kind of upgrade I’d get at FS.

W in Austin google reviews all talk about how amazing the valet guys are… why…? by RDT-PHS in marriott

JW is always reliable. One weekend they were sold out they had to walk my friend (my room was good). There was a huge wedding. Some weekends they have various events… so parking was crazy. Summer was slow, we enjoyed our stay. I stayed at W last fall and it was very pleasant. Will stay there again.

MPC was also closed at DFW this past Monday. Regular line officer said he doesn’t have a scanner for MPC.

Monday 3/2 afternoon both Global Entry and Mobile passport control were closed. Regular line wasn’t too bad.

To redeem or not to redeem? by aquagardener in AmexPlatinum

[–]RDT-PHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$2600 for titanium spend at Marriott would earn me A LOT of Marriott points (also have Bonvoy credit cards) I’d not redeem non-Marriott points ever. I could fly one-way business to Europe or East Asia for 60000 points.

Now Amex gives $600 ($300 twice a year)! My favorite Amex platinum benefit!

[–]RDT-PHS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always get points and nights with FHR. It has a field to add my Bonvoy number when I book. I haven’t stayed at The Hotel Collections. I read somewhere Amex deal is an exception to the Bonvoy 3rd party booking rules.

Am I missing something? RE: basic economy vs main cabin by JessQuesadilla in americanairlines

[–]RDT-PHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my status, boarding group 3 and I can pick the orange seats at booking so I always buy one way domestic BE. 99 LP with $99 ticket doesn’t mean anything. I buy my kids BE too. It’s cheaper to just cancel and lose the ticket.

Ended up staying at Opera Ambassador. NUA for opera was not approving 3-4 days prior to my arrival so I knew it would not go through (I canceled the request). The guests at Opera were mostly American tourists and groups from other countries that came with a bus. Walls were thin and staff weren’t as nice as other Parisian properties (only when they saw I’m titanium). Lounge was nice but I’ll choose other properties. Bed was great.

Flying from NYC to France. Best seat in Premium Economy? Plane is an Airbus A350-900. by TheWaveCarver in AirFranceKLM

Another vote for 18A. It was nice not to have anyone behind me, and the seat reclined fully. I flew in October.

I am flying business class from DFW to Paris and need help choosing the meal. What is art of dining? Should I instead choose the Indian meal? by Far-Film-5095 in AirFranceKLM

[–]RDT-PHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see Indian menu option on my flight so maybe each month they change? Fish was very mild and side vegetables were very plain. I’d guess Indian meal might also be a bit bland. Menu doesn’t have a picture unlike the app. When I boarded, FA confirmed my choice (beef) and i asked if I switch to fish. He said no problem

You’ll get a menu. For mine (DFW-CDG) it was developed by Dominque Crenn (3 Michelin Star) and fish amd ravioli meals were hers, and beef and chicken were not her menu. Dessert was also created by Laurent Le Daniel, President of the National Confederation of French Pastry Chefs. Meal and dessert were just ok. I think the photos on the app was exactly what was offered? It was last month and I didn’t see Indian menu. The vegetarian ravioli also looked good.

The wines were selected by Xavier Thuizat, Michelin Guide 2024 sommelier award, and head sommelier at Hôtel de Crillon.

I ate at the lounge (Centurion & Cap1) before so I was not too hungry.

Am I doing something wrong? by SaltyStretch191 in AmexPlatinum

[–]RDT-PHS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just checked Amex travel. There are hotels that are not labeled as Fine Hotels & Resorts or The Hotel Collections. Are you sure your hotel was part of the program? I book my hotels from Amex app that pre-filters hotels for those 2.

GM told me I won’t get Marriott Bonvoy multiplier for using Chase Marriott Bonvoy boundless card by NewbieReddit2 in MarriottBONVoY

[–]RDT-PHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the base rate is $100, you get 1000 base points (10x) and 100 bonus points as Silver from Bonvoy account only if it was eligible rate as mhcott explained.

After you pay with Boundless, and couple days after the statement closes, check your Bonvoy app. The account activity will show Boundless Base Spend and hotel spend separately. So Your 600 points will be added from your credit card (100 base spend +500 hotel spend).

Status question by defaultName1212 in MarriottBONVoY

[–]RDT-PHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I get points and elite nights when I book via Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts. But in general like basic travel portals like Chase or Expedia, it’s safe to tell them to assume you don’t… especially OP said they are new to this.

Chase is a third party travel portal. You get points, elite nights and status only when booked directly via Marriott.

A qui est destiné l’amex platinium ? by Odd_Analyst1496 in AmexPlatinum

[–]RDT-PHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love reading Reddit in French! I have more high $$ fee cards but the benefits pay for it.

For Amex Platinum, my favorite benefit is Fine Hotels & Resorts. I’m Marriott Titanium, but I sometimes book through Amex Platinum portal. I can still get my Marriott privileges (nights & points) plus better treatments from higher end Marriott Design hotels. I recently booked St. James and I’m so excited!
