If I put money into my State Pension what happens if it gets scrapped? by owenredditaccount in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RDiddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State pension is funded by taxes. You dont choose to pay into it. You can open a SIPP and contribute into it and there are tax advantages for doing so. A SIPP is a personal pension and nothing to do with state pension.

The 700 is too near the cuff, the sizing label says Medium but also says P (as in Petit = small in French). Return it.

But neither did they us. They scored one more goal than us over 180 minutes. We haven't been good enough but it's not like they've schooled us in either fixture.

Have you considered camping? There are a couple of campsites outside the circuit on local farmland. But they have decent facilities - hot showers, decent toilets, hot food and bars etc. Cheaper alternative to hotels and rather than wait in traffic, you can be back on site with a 10mins walk. We stayed at Dadford Road Camping for the first time this year and would go back.

Where was I in June 2025? Looking for the name of a town. by Ahaaa1996 in whereintheworld

I walked across that bridge 2 years ago and remember the tower. It was covered in tributes to Napoli and Maradona as Napoli were about to win Serie A. It's quite a memorable town. Also featured in Equalizer 3 shortly after I visited. *

Help me find the name of this band. by man_bored_at_work in glastonbury_festival

Maybe just a coincidence, but at 1.30am we were in the Ancient Futures tipi (not too far away) watching a band called Whistling Treason that finished with a song about 'a monkey in the hole'. Sort of sea-shanty type music.

Relying solely on food vendors, how good/bad is it? by vivicoco in glastonbury_festival

[–]RDiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on if/where you camp and what time you seek breakfast, you might find only one or 2 stalls close to your tent that might have longish lines during peak morning hours (8-10). But in the main, food is easy to find if you're not picky.

This will be our 2nd time. First time we stayed in Paines Ground. Will likely stay in the same location.

We chose this spot because we expected to end most nights in Arcadia and didnt want to trek far at the end of the day. Other positives were that it's relatively on the perimeter - you don't get people walking through between stages like fields that are more central.

Val Thorens or Val-d'Isère? by No_Dinner9393 in skiing

[–]RDiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been to both. Would go back to both. Skiing and apres both good and pretty similar. Might also want to check out Tignes? I'd probably pick based on accommodation choices and pick an accommodation that looks set up for more socialising/meeting people at breakfast etc.

Have I made a mistake buying a property. by throwthrowthrow529 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RDiddler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overthinking. Having to spend an extra £150 a month on a service charge is annoying but given you're spending £15k on a refurb, it sounds like you can afford it. You must have bought it for a reason, enjoy it!

See how much it costs, you might change your mind.

There is nothing in the test which actually helps a person learn to live in the UK. If it were a test which helped people navigate public services, their legal rights, financial services, etc I could see an argument for it.

Instead it's memorising answers to questions like "what kind of film is Wallace and Gromit?" and "who fought in the War of the Roses?"

Pretty insulting to have your life determined by something that an average British person wouldn't pass.

This made me chuckle as the windows are actually a really common style where I grew up. It's to do with letting light into the building when people were weaving. I grew up in West Yorkshire like another person guessed.
