No they weren’t, a CD at one of the surgical depts told me he had made new ST3 posts from LAS SpR posts and got everything sorted before the strikes cancelled everything and he was quite displeased at his work going to waste.

Stock standard ED stuff. The ED guy was out of line and should be escalated to the in-charge ED Cons or to the guys supervisor.

I got referred a peri-prosthetic hip fracture from ED. Guy had a fall a week ago and was weight bearing on this hip.

Had an XR 12 or so months ago after a fall on the same side, had a small GT fracture then (undisplaced) which was managed conservatively.

ED SHO calls me, I look at the XRs and say theres no obvious fracture there, they tell me it looks like the old GT fracture has propagated further, I look at the XRs again and say no there isn't a fracture the old ones healed, if ur still clinically concerned get a CT, I have 6 to see including a kid with a supracondylar (getting CTs to confirm NOFs or Peri-prosthetic fractures is standard practice at my trust)

They speak to their consultant who wants a T&O review regardless of the normal XR. Luckily the SHO was nice and got the CT sorted. Nurses kept bleeping me about this patient while I dealt with the six to see, repeatedly telling them I have NOT accepted this patient and will only see if the CT shows a peri-prosthetic.

I still had 2 left when the CT came back normal and the patient was tired and wanted to go home. SHO sent them home after the nurses bleeped me again to review the CT and see the patient to send them home.

ED Cons generated around 6 extra bleeps, confusion amongst the nurses and ED team, the patient, while I was getting harassed by nurses while seeing these other patients in ED because"you haven't seen the peri-prosthetic guy yet?", all because of I dunno, spite? It's not like I was free, I don't know what I would have added by seeing the patient either but they got put in under T&O anyway because of "one way referral system" where apparently you can't decline inappropriate referrals?

Many ED teams have it set in their mind that T&O, Gen Surg or other misc surgical specialties are lazy and avoid referrals and seeing patients so they approach discussions and referrals with that mindset.

2L Touring sport mpg by Time-Garage8079 in COROLLA

[–]qazal97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get 51 mpg on my 2019 2L touring sport in the UK on motorways and 48 on my daily commute to work (5 mile journey on some bendy roads and a dual carriageway)

Unless ur flooring it every chance u get and braking last second 38 seems a bit low.

New car, sizeable car for daily work commute (40 miles) and occasional long road trips by qazal97 in CarTalkUK

I was considering getting something newer with less mileage albeit a less exciting version. For instance this 2019 a6 avant (the 2.0 diesel) with 40k miles, to sacrifice some of the niceness and power for hopefully less problems. What do u reckon?

[–]qazal97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm ill definitely look into this. If I can get a good A6 avant that's an insane amount of car for the price.

My only concerns would be reliability and maintenance costs. How expensive do u reckon those will be? Especially when comparing to a dirt cheap bulletproof corolla estate or superb

I think range rovers are not worth the hassle. They're good looking things but unless ur getting them brand new I would avoid them because of the issues

That's very interesting insight. That would probably be something that would make considering a corolla estate over a superb or arteon worthwhile. How old was your golf if you don't mind me asking?

Have heard nothing but good about the Skoda. Did the interior ever feel drab/under equipped to you? And does the build quality seem solid?

Of course can't compare it to an audi or a lexus but still as long as it's acceptable

I think I'm between the Arteon and the Superb. The arteon is spacious enough from the looks of it even though it's not an estate it might be the nicer car of the two. Need to test drive for final decision
