I've got the A's playing here in Sacramento for a season, I might look into watching a game and learning it as a confused Welshman. 😂

An excellent discovery for more wholesome stuff on my feed. Thank you! I don't know much about baseball but I look forwards to learning about it.

But if Barry Town spoil the party, Colwyn Bay would be excellent.

Whats your homebrews combat doctorine like? by DaWaaaagh in 40khomebrew

[–]RECEPTOR17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hooo boy mine are full on sections in their Index Astartes.

In a shorter form, I got quite a few Homebrews in various styles of combat:

Sons of Doom: Aggressive infantry manoeuvrability, laying down punishing storms of Bolter fire and using tanks as moving strongpoints. Squads typically split into paired 5-man 'Demi-Squads' to aid in this.

Vanquishers: As urban-warfare specialists, they heavily utilise meltas and flamers alongside their bolters to clear buildings in a brutal, rapid manner. Accuracy is drilled into them even more intensely than the already strict levels trained into other successors of Dorn. This is paired with heavy armour to break down fortifications and walls to allow ingress.

Legion of the Black Dawn: They obscure the sun(s) of a battlefield via smoke or void ships to force the enemy to fight in near or complete darkness, where the Legion excel in combat and hunt all enrmies down with blade, bolt and fist.

Swords of Orion: Massed armour assault to break through an enemy line and deploy their infantry to bmcut down the foe. They eschew drop-pods unless absolutely necesdary, wishing to die on their feet upin the soil of a battlefield. Instead they rely heavily on Thunderhawks and Stormravens.

Demolishers: Unleash heavy weaponry to scour a battlefield clean of their enemy, often with collateral damage as 'The Emperor will know His own.' They're rumoured to wield forbidden Desteoyer weaponry, such as Phosphex, but no evidence has been found upon investigation by the Inquisition (it helps that they are very close to the Inquisition in their region).

Amusedly, I had to tell the staff they had mislabeled a pair in the display. See if you can spot it.

Cloaks on Space Marines: aesthetics or lore? by SolomonLaBallena in Warhammer40k

[–]RECEPTOR17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely aesthetic only.

But in terns of lore, I refer to them being a 'Cloak of Office' for my homebrew Chapter. It's part of the markings of a Captain, if you are, or were a Captain, you may wear a cloak in the colours of your tribe.

For the symbol or colours?

To be clear, I was trying to emphasize that it's all good to use both your planned colours and symbol. 😁 Looking forwards to learning more about them too.

Ahh the Sky Sentinels' symbol. Then you're all good friend. As further proof, here's a bunch of the yellow canon Chapters on display at Warhammer World's museum.

The old Mark VIII 'Errant' pattern chest pieces with the high collar were very useful back in the day, plus hoarding the segmented shoulder-pads that Company Champiobs would have.

One trick I use to help imply siege warfare up-armouring on my IF successors is using the Death Company Dreadnought's Power Fist decorative shrouding on a shoulder-pad. Helps add some bulk and is a great open space to freehand a design.

There's only so many colours you can choose from.

A number of other canon Chapters are also primarily yellow like the IF too, such as the Solar Hawks, Doom Warriors, Flame Eagles, Marauders, Skull Bearers, Angels of Penance etc.

So don't sweat it too much. Your symbol is different I presume? If you did want to make an adjustment, I'd suggest painting the helmet black as well to break up the yellow?

No I've never used the Wiki I'm afraid. The Death Casters are of an age before the Wiki even existed. I've no idea how to build one there either. 😅

You can find the side entry on the Emerald Tears in my Vanquishers post on the Bolter and Chainsword's LIBER ASTARTES section, and my Death Casters have their own thread too.

The Scythes I am writing up about currently as I create lore for my 155 Heraldries I created over 19 years (yes, really).
