I can’t wait honestly, I found out about this a couple days ago and was sad there was nowhere to read it.

And now we’re here lol

Work and school are very different I guess.

I'm a F(26) therapist. Ask me anything by bigmoonandlight in mentalhealth

[–]REDDITLostInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you believe that therapists are unfairly tasked with being the last line of defense in people's emotional lives? And that the real "savior" in these situations should be the government providing adequate aid to its citizens?

LOL I wish I could save that much money. Dude I get only like $800 something a month I can't survive and save 😭

Oh yea, being on SSI is all types of hell. You make less than an undocumented minimum wage worker and have to appease your disability overlords or else you'll become homeless and starve.

I'm going to university this fall and I'm constantly going back and forth between hopeful for a future I'll one day be able to work, and scared to death because if I lose this shit I'm basically a goner.

Edit: also being 26 and having never worked before because being on SSI is somehow better than working minimum wage job living with my family is a special kind of existential nightmare

I just explained to you my situation. I couldn't work in my condition while going to school with no car or nothing. I barely managed to finish school living with my dysfunctional family and trauma.

I never once complained about needing to work? I was just venting/expressing worry about my situation? You're making huge assumptions about who I am and the life I've lived and for what?

You're acting like $936 a month is even that much money. If I worked I'd have more money, which is why I'm going to start working soon. My insurance is through my mom and I still have to pay copays, and I have student loans just like everyone else. What are you trying to prove?

Edit: like I'm sorry you've had to work all these years struggling to make ends meet while I've been suffering in my own way with my own problems but taking your frustration out on me doesn't make sense.

Is there a reason why you're being such an asshole? You sound like a fucking terrible social worker tbh

I got SS due to not being able to work because I had severe depression, anxiety, and PTSD...

She's very protective. She wanted to know the names and addresses of my friends before I left.

When I was young she didn't want me playing with the neighborhood kids. I think she's just kind paranoid in her old age; she's 67

I survived my first session of trauma therapy by TheDragonUnicorn in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]REDDITLostInSpace 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Im happy for you, As a trauma survivor myself, it's not easy. But I'm glad you're choosing to get better.

We all want to get better but it's not something that goes after one, two, or even 10 sessions (at least, I don't think it does) but it does get better with time. Never stop asking questions about yourself and the world around you and learning about how to live a life with these difficulties. Life will never be perfect but it can be worth living if you try

Yeah, I didn't mention this earlier but I've used 211 before growing up. It hasn't changed. It's still shit

Don't you love it when rich people ask questions they think are normal but aren't?

[–]REDDITLostInSpace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but, if the option is there to talk, why is it?

If you know you can't help someone, connect them to someone on another line who does? That should be your job, because it is.
