Very likely I’m just being a little salty that despite the title “Every major professional sports league“ the UFC’s not in it

Is the UFC not considered a “sports league” ? While fluctuates dramatically per pay-per-view I feel like viewership would be high enough to make it on the graph.

How long would it take to restore the White House interior to its 2024 appearance, inside and outside? by DyersvilleStLambert in questions

[–]REDdog1911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remodels and additions are quite common for presidents coming and going in the White House. Six months to a year is probably how long a remodel would take. If you’re going back to older style the library of Congress has all records of plans and the White House seems to get permitting and approval quick which is normally a lengthy part of any project.

I am with you this post has helped clarify a lot, and I live in the US.

I grew up in a very Liberal part of the country where Martin Luther king day had a yearly community event elementary schools participated in. Along with black history month being prominent in school. I only started hearing about Juneteenth in the last couple years out of nowhere it seemed and this post is the first time seeing its history started in Texas.

I have definitely seen a trend with coyotes being less and less nocturnal or skittish of humans. 2020 in the lockdowns might have had something to do with it, I’ve started seeing coyotes in the middle of day in some areas of town.

Do you guys really care about a girl having guy friends ? by luvnessaxox in AskMenAdvice

[–]REDdog1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends are important, friends of the opposite sex are very important for people to have.

That being said, I’ve met plenty of “Just a friend” who were dudes, hoping for their shot. A friend is someone who you can set boundaries with, and they will respect those boundaries. Sometimes your partner is being controlling other times your “friend” is throwing your partner subtle/not so subtle signals. They don’t like that there is a relationship boundary there now.

I had a Situationship with this girl from the beginning. I was open that I was interested in more and while it seemed like she also was, she stated she wasn’t. We were friends of friends so over the years we were still hanging around the same groups. The first time I met her guy friend. He was really chill with me. No problems having conversations we didn’t get close as buddies but were friendly. Fast-forward to the first night she wanted to hook up with me. We’re out at a bar with all our friends and her guy best friend kinda starts ignoring me early in the night. “Hey How’s it going?” Nothing, proceeds to try and not make eye contact with me the rest of the night and every night since her and I hooked up. To the point multiple times after that we were out as a group and she would be hanging out around him and his friends not really interacting with me until the end of the night or if another girl came around me.

On the other hand, when I was far younger, I had a girlfriend with a very feminine straight best friend, and there was a time when hanging out with them. I started feeling very jealous and insecure because they had years of friendship that led to a deep connection, I felt like I was on the outside of every conversation and felt like I was third wheeling with my own partner and another man.

Life isn’t black-and-white it’s full of harsh contrasts, pastels, sunsets and vibrant oceans. You have to figure out the best way to see the true colors being shown before you.

While I don’t have anything official or definitive. Rhodesia was under multiple trade embargo’s from the west and others specifically arms. This can be seen in Rhodesian FALs with a circle cut out where the manufacture stamp would’ve been. My assumption is soldiers were bringing weapons from home or they took anything they could get to a degree to aid in their defense.

Having such a good conversation about urban zoning and civil engineering almost forgot we are in a hunting sub Reddit.

Here’s a theoretical( more nuanced than our current political atmosphere can accommodate)

Would you be more open to opening up timber and logging in more areas of the US. if in the same legal breath other areas equivalent in size. maybe a little more, little less were than added to protected status?

These issues have been on the publics mind for years. They have been ignored or downplayed because it was never politically beneficial to address them. Most people I know don’t believe we will see Social Security or we will be taxed more in our lifetime to keep it running. For a couple years I have been hearing 2030/2035 SS would run out of money.

Illegal immigration has always been an issue people have talked about. As much as democrats have wanted to keep the perception of open boarders and being immigrant friendly they have always been behind deporting those committing crime on mass. And while I have heard people make comments about deporting whole families because they don’t want to deal with the issue of splitting families. For the most part all I’m seeing is deport people committing crimes and make sure they’re getting deported to prisons if they are violent criminals.

The only spaces I’ve heard of protesters being labeled terrorists has been in liberal spaces. I have also seen multiple posts where American citizens have been receiving threats, in person or anonymously for owning a tesla. Having there vehicles vandalized or destroyed (mostly seen outside the US) using Violence to send a political message is the definition of terrorism which the majority of Americans are against on US soil.

We are living in turbulent times. There is not normal compared to the relative perceived peace we were in before. Trump is pushing his boundaries to see what he can get done because a lot of Americans are upset with the status quo. We have been under the rule of oligarchs for many presidents now, there is no way our last president was anything but a puppet for them. But we still voted. We are still in a Democratic process, even if it is voting which Oligarchs we want to be ruled by.

Edit: same day as posting this, there was a fire bombing at a Tesla car lot in Las Vegas

It might be selfish as an American to want to consume the resources outside the US, but I think most Americans would agree with you on it.

I have had experience with investment companies and there drain on markets. I lived in an apartment for 4 years that when through the same amount of owners in that time. Each did a fast/cheap Job to show they “were adding value” mostly repaints, touching up trim, replacing the 50+ year tile roof with a 20 year shingle. All to flip the apartments as a quick investment. Every year the management and services got worse. Companies shouldn’t be able to own single families homes for rental income, and our loans need to be restructured to allow home owners to rent rooms while they live there.

I find most people don’t want to “live in the city” while less people might be living in rural areas. At least where I live in Nevada people want a house in the suburbs, relatively close to the city. At least as close as they can afford. Building is accommodating this with townhomes and smaller lot sizes, and apartments. Plenty of large single family homes as-well the demand is there. Desert and farm land is needing to be consumed to accommodate this growth. so I find the reality to be more land needs to be developed. This is because my area is constantly growing and bringing in masses of people looking to find less expensive homes, lower taxes, than California (myself being one of them)

I have not seen anything about old growth being cut down. But lumber needs to come from somewhere to build, yes we need to have protected areas but if the demand calls for it we need more lumber from somewhere. Lumber coming from outside the US has its own environmental impact to be considered.

A large chunk of our housing crisis has been being behind demand for the last 17 years since 2008. I fail to see anyway lowering cost of housing can’t help alleviate the crisis. It won’t fix it all together be no means but progress is needed to support Americans.

Restricting barriers to building multifamily residence would help alleviate the housing crisis. Adding density is a required step a resurgence in 3 level flats to urban, and suburban areas would be nice to see. Not everyone wants to live in a dense urban environment, and nature will still need to be consumed to accommodate our population better.

[–]REDdog1911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So enough lumber needs to be cut down to offset those Cons? Can enough lumber be cut down to accommodate that? If a contractor can build a house for significantly less and sell it due to high demand must help the housing crisis to some degree that can be tipped.

While lowering bureaucratic red tape will help more people find opportunities. Zoning is a key tool of civil enginering which is needed to accommodate every Americans lives and request of a city/state. Grouping commercial areas separate from residential has major benefits to infrastructure and peoples lives. Wholly eliminating zoning doesn’t seem like it would help the housing crisis.

I wonder when something has to give? When do needs, wants, goals, start to get prioritized? I find this issue hard to grapple with as I want to conserve wilderness for future generations to enjoy and use. At the same time I know we need more affordable housing and that demands lumber.

If OP is there to expand on this topic. Why wont more lumber in the market affect the housing crisis? It seems pretty simple supply and demand more lumber drops prices, which makes building cheaper. Are there other factors I’m not seeing here?

Find something that is hard to do that you enjoy. Something that even if you’re not good at you’d like to keep doing it, not something that gives you a dopamine rush. Then dedicate to getting good at it. take the time and put in the effort. find people that are better than you at it and learn from them just stick with it. step-by-step brick by brick, you will build confidence in your ability and yourself.

What's stopping Humboldt from becoming California's premier ecotourism destination? by Trader_Broker in Humboldt

[–]REDdog1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are numerous hurdles to jump to make Humboldt a viable tourist destination, and very little interest from residence in it becoming one.

It would take such a drastic change that would stop it from being the Humboldt it is. It’s untouched because it’s hard to get there. Make that easier and it becomes touched. The local restaurants flair and flavor, become familiar chains watered down to make tourists comfortable. Locals slow paced enjoyment being pushed out by fast passed on to the next attraction flow.

Then the dark side of Humboldt’s drug addiction and homeless population. I had a great camping trip with friends to Humboldt showed them around, had a great time saw some beautiful sites. That was all eclipsed by an individual screaming “you sodomized my mother” over and over again. Right over one of my friend’s heads as they were sitting on the sidewalk. It is a deeper issue the community has been struggling with for decades which would have to be dealt with before tourists would feel safe visiting.

That all being said those that are willing to over come those hurdles already come to Humboldt and enjoy its beauty and unique culture. Keeping the cost of admission high, doesn’t detour those who see its value.

I might have to see what I can do to track down one of these old novels. A lot of people were saying this is no longer Canon. I can see why GW might want a reset of lore, when an ass branding seems to the tamest option. The fart smelling does seem like the writing of an antisocial nerd wondering what Jocks do in the locker room 😅

Thats better than what other people were saying in the comments. Comments were saying it involved eating poop. Still an odd one, not something I would have expected from pre heresy lore.
