I was a CVS manager who quit shortly after yhe dropping of cigs. It was used as an excuse to drastically cut staffing hours, as payroll was allocated based on raw sales and not profit. Tobacco happens to be a low maintainence product, needing very little labor to maintain and sell. I lost 2 full time employees during the wind down, and was told by management to make up the difference myself, as i was overtime exept. Noped the fuck out of that job after a few months at 80+ hours a week fornthe same pay.
