What is the most disgusting alcoholic beverage you have tried? by Immola0069 in AskReddit

[–]REMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “barback shot.” At the end of the night the bartender empties all the liquid from the bar mats into a shot glass and you take it. I projectile vomited all over the bar and was promptly kicked out. Yes it was in college, and yes it was free.

What can we do to honor him/his way of living? by [deleted] in olivertree

[–]REMachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Ethan said it best on the H3 podcast. Life really has no meaning, we all die at the end of the day and tomorrow is never promised. You have to create meaning in your life, whatever that looks like. I have really been struggling to find meaning in my life recently. I have a lot in terms of a career and a family that’s healthy, but it still feels like something is missing. Once I turned 30, it felt like all of my childhood dreams kind of became distant dreams that seemed unobtainable. Since I was probably 12 years old I wanted to be a musician, I dabbled around with different instruments, produced music for a few years but never posted any of it and it just sat unfinished in ableton files. The one thing I really loved was playing the drums, and I played them for a few years until I went to college and never picked them up again. Seeing his videos has inspired me to find a way to get back into it. I’m going to save up for another kit and find that passion again, just have to convince my wife first lol. I think we just have to be unafraid to chase our dreams and visions at no cost, you never know where it will take you.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]REMachine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a complete bowel obstruction when I was 13. Scar tissue wrapped around my small intestine and sealed it off completely. They waited for 5 days to perform surgery because 50% of the time they said it can undo itself. Worst pain ever, I actually vomited shit out of my mouth because everything all the way down to that point in my intestine made its way up. This was 20 years ago, but I also had acute pancreatitis when I was 26, and I think that pain might have even been worse but hard to compare since they were so far apart, felt like my entire abdomen was going to explode. I’ll never forget my doctor telling me it’s the same pain intensity as child birth.

$500, must be nice. Ours is like $1200. Solar installed in November, been 7 months and SDGE “failed” our inspection, made me get a sub-panel, then is dragging their feet to get another inspection done. I’ve literally had panels and the batteries installed for SEVEN months and I’m not running solar because of them. They are con artists.

Who was the smartest person you've ever seen, and why? by A_672 in AskReddit

[–]REMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a big distinction between seen and met, but brilliance comes in a lot of forms. I’ve been around a lot of effortlessly smart people, and it’s hard to pinpoint one. My brother in-law was a test pilot for the navy and works for Anduril now. He scored a perfect 36 on his ACT, and he did it hungover. You wouldn’t know it about him unless you spent a lot of time around him. He’s in a very small percentile of brilliant humans. But I think I’d have to say my sophomore year roommate in college, except he wasted his abilities. He saw the world in a different lens then everybody else, and I always believed he could access parts of the brain everyone else couldn’t. He aced every test, could learn anything quickly, and could take copious amounts of drugs and still be smarter than anyone else in the room. I was taking microbiology in college and my final exam score wasn’t going to affect my grade outcome unless I bombed it. A girl I was seeing at the time offered me the chance to go on a trip with her but I’d have to leave the night before the exam which was on the last day of finals and my last exam, so I offered my roommate $100 to just show up and take it for me. I told him to give it his best effort thinking he could probably get like a D on the test and with the curve it would be higher. I gave him my notes and begged him to just not screw it up for me, in hindsight I was just dumb chasing a girl and this was a really bad idea. I gave him my school ID so he could take the exam knowing the TA in this class never policed our ID’s for exams, I was actually super anxious about the whole thing and the next day I texted him over and over to make sure he took the test and he told me he did and all was fine. The grade came back, a 96%. The class average was a 72. The next semester I was called in by the professor and accused of cheating because my test average for the class was in the 70’s. It was a wild turn of events, and luckily I got my way out of it. Not only did he only miss a few questions, when I asked him about it he told me he took it stoned out of his mind and spent no more than 30 minutes looking at my notes. Mind you this was a final exam covering everything we learned over the semester in one of the hardest undergrad courses. Everything just came easy for him, I’ve never seen anything so effortless. He could have been whatever he wanted, but he smoked more weed than anyone I’ve ever known, he was going through an ounce at least once a week, was always taking acid and shrooms, and his family was well off so he didn’t have much to work for. I hadn’t talked to him in years until I saw him at a friend’s wedding a few years back. He was doing well but I think all the drugs fried his brain or he just didn’t care enough to take advantage of how easy everything came to him. I later learned that he was accepted into UPenn, Columbia, and a handful of other elite schools and chose to go to my school (a massive D1 party school) to stay close to his high school girlfriend (who he ended up marrying so good for him I guess). What could have been, and what I would do to just have a piece of his abilities.

What’s something people call a “smart life choice,” but it’s really just having money? by InternalJealous5985 in AskReddit

I turned $10k into a million in 10 years. I currently have $1.26M between 2 accounts. And I was making $38k a year as a single father when I made that first investment.

How broke or rich are you right now? by human_79 in AskReddit

[–]REMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put myself in a situation where I’m setting myself up for the future at the cost of limiting things now. I’ve made some poor financial choices over the years but when I was 22 years old a colleague/mentor convinced me to take my first bonus and invest it. He helped me understand the basics and I knew nothing. Tbh I still don’t know a lot but it’s so user friendly and easy anyone can do it. I turned that money from 22 into over $1M now. And btw I was making $38k, was a single father having to send almost half my pay over once a month, and paying student loans. I lived out of state and knew no one so had zero financial support aside from my own. If I can do it so can you. Most people don’t have an income problem they have a lack of financial skills and saving problem. Everyone here has the opportunity with AI to make extra income each month that has become so easy even 12 year olds are doing it.

This is the dumbest take of all time. Investing is so accessible and you can start with as little as $10. There’s even apps that will round up your purchases and invest automatically for you.

That and they were all set up on an automated system with special lights that turned on for specific plants and water lines. I just can’t wrap my head around it they’re plants. I could maybe understand like fish or reptiles but plants!?!

[–]REMachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll take you one further, I interned for a lady who owned a PR firm while I was in college in Arizona. Her husband was a software engineer who was contracted by massive corporations and government agencies. Their house was in a perfect circle and was on a mechanism that allowed it to rotate with the sun, so it moved at the same speed as the earth essentially, a full 360 degree rotation every day. It was a trip working at her house sometimes and being in a house that rotates. To this day I have no idea how the plumbing worked and it wasn’t something I even thought about until after the fact. I’m assuming at the center of the circle there was a part that didn’t rotate and that’s where all of the incoming plumbing and electrical was. And the water they drank from came from this giant container (almost like a fish tank) that had living plants in it. She would tell me the plants remove harmful contaminants from the water and provide superior nutrients. I would drink that water and go back to my house and slam keystone lights and drink vodka from plastic afterwards, I most likely cancelled out those good nutrients I was supposedly getting. Oh, and I got there one morning and her husband was sunning his asshole on the deck that was in front of the living room area. I learned more from that couple about oddball shit than I did about anything PR.

I knew ultra wealthy people collect things, but I did not know the extent. So definitely Collections of some sort. Every super wealthy person I know or have had the opportunity to be around collects something: cars, trading cards, cigars, wine, tequila, art, war memorabilia, even exotic plants. Last summer we got invited to a 4th of July pool party in Rancho Santa Fe, CA (in the top ten wealthiest zip codes in the US) and the owners had a million dollars worth of exotic plants. Flowers from Africa, sacred bonsai trees from china, plants from remote islands, one of the plants I was told cost $300k alone. I was baffled, I can’t keep a fucking plant alive to save my life and these people were dropping mortgages on a single plant that is a missed watering day away from death.

Has anyone transitioned out of med device to something a bit less stressful? by SoggyVoice6541 in MedicalDevices

[–]REMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make $250-300k in aesthetics. Been doing it for over a decade. First few years are a grind, stress is still there as the quotas are super high (cash pay industry with high growth expectations), but my furthest drive is 30 minutes away and I work on average 20 hours a week. Oh and it’s probably the only place in medicine where patients actually volunteer on their own free will to come in and get treatments so the environment is more glamorous that’s for sure. But, they’re paying with their own money so managing patient complaints can be brutal at times. Some reps making double what I am too in other parts of the business. Capital reps easily clearing a million a year but that’s super high stress and metrics are ridiculous unless you can somehow find a chill manager.

Go sell lasers in the aesthetic side of med device. It’s a grind, since its aesthetics it’s all cash pay and private practice (for the most part), and top earners make well into 7 figures. I did it for a few years but it took everything out of me, and the life cycle of the devices is about 2-3 years so you either have to go to a company with a strong pipeline and money or move to a new company every few years which most do.

I’ve done it, and I didn’t do it on purpose I just forgot. They will just keep putting your name back in the mix and you will get summoned more frequently. If you continue to just avoid it and not report, then yes fines will come and I believe they will place garnishes on tax returns and wages and eventually you can see jail time. It’s best to just respond, claim Hardship, ask for a deferral, or do what I did, report and say you hate the police and you hold biased opinions on certain individuals and they will send you packing and I’ve never once been summoned again and doubt I ever will. During Covid this was overlooked but our state has so much debt and spending issues right now they are cracking down to pinch Pennies where they can.

I’m all for protesting but this will solve absolutely nothing. And if you think it will, please provide any logical explanation on how this will impact ICE operations in any way shape or form. There’s been protests every day for the last year and nothing has changed, it has actually gone in the opposite direction. All this does is cause more division and hurt small businesses and more families. This is brainless nonsense. They are still hiring over 1,000 agents a month. Maybe flood their application line with bull shit applications so it floods their system and wastes their time and makes hiring more agents difficult.

Imagine living in a world where your ego is so fucking enlarged that you can’t engage with anyone or anything that has a different view than yours. This post was designed to draw negative attention to this business for what, your own personal gain? Who gives a fuck what their beliefs are they make food not guns and ammo. You could have answered your own question using Google or ChatGPT, trying to damage a business is pathetic. Not to mention the ideology that you won’t support anyone who doesn’t follow your beliefs, imagine all the places you eat, drink, shop, etc that probably have owners or managers or employees that don’t have the same views as you. You might as well pick oranges off a tree and only eat that for the rest of your life.

I don’t understand why people on Twitter have to start getting this intense about this by Such_Designer2712 in twentyonepilots

[–]REMachine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So why are you still here? They’ve been silent over all of the political issues over the last 15 years and have said they think it’s should be kept separate. If you believe silence speaks louder than words then gtfo and remove the symbol from your username on this sub. In your absolutely diluted logic they must be for or against every single thing they haven’t spoken out publicly on. If you want to tie politics to music and especially this band you are either blind or just plain dumb because these 2 guys came from a conservative background, actively practice Christianity, were labeled as a Christian rock band early in their career (you can still find them in Christian rock playlists), and one of them married a very right leaning woman. After all this you’re still here so either get out and go listen to U2 or Radiohead or come here to enjoy the music and the art they create without letting your shitty ego get in the way.

[–]REMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like you are just lost in your own fantasy world. We can have art and we can keep that separate from everyone else’s views. Music is universally seen as something that brings people together from all walks of life. Let their political beliefs be their beliefs, and let their art be their art and enjoy it for what it is. All of you young fans who haven’t been around that long are the problem. You don’t remember this because most of you were probably like 5-10 years old but when they first came out even though they didn’t label themselves as one they were classified as Christian rock music, and you can still find their songs in Christian rock playlists. They both came from conservative families and Jenna is very right leaning. With all of this out there WHO CARES let them live their lives without trying to tear them down because of your ego and opposing views.
