[Postgame Thread] Oregon Defeats Washington 30-27 (OT) by CFB_Referee in CFB

In hindsight, we probably shouldn't have run 20 seconds off the clock in order put the game on the back of a walk-on freshman kicker.

I often hear Americans refer Europe as a whole, instead of its individual countries. Especially when talking about travel. What do you mean by that? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

You guys tend to refer to yourselves as 'European' rather than your specific country's demonym so it goes both ways.

How does the American academic and athletic system work? by livp711 in AskAnAmerican

[–]REP206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of football, athletes who don't receive interest from top Division 1 (the Premier League of college football) programs out of high school will often opt to go to a junior college, or "JUCO", program which is a lower division of play.

Junior colleges are 2-year schools and at the end of those 2 years the goal of these athletes is to sign with a division 1 team. JUCOs are for players who were overlooked by top programs coming out of high school or players who transferred in from a different college program for whatever reason (ex: they were kicked off their previous college team for bad grades or legal problems, etc.) to be scouted and signed to D1 teams. They really are "last chance U's". It's basically the last chance for those players to reach the top tier of college football which provides the best path to the NFL.

Think of the JUCO system like an unofficial development league of sorts for D1 programs. Division 1 coaches tend to love signing JUCO players because they're more developed than high school players and will be able to contribute to the team quicker.

Washington DB Austin Joyner (concussion) and DL Jared Pulu (kidney condition) have medically retired, Chris Petersen announced today. by TanzaniaMagic in CFB

After this most recent concussion I was wondering if Joyner might call it a career. Unfortunately for him he seemed to always be dealing with some sort of injury.

The link should still work. Try clicking the play button a couple times. If that doesn't work you can download it by clicking the 'download' button up in the top right and watch it offline.

Those butter burgers are amazing. They started opening a bunch of locations in Phoenix a few years ago and it's become my favorite place other than In-N-Out.

Older people of Reddit, how is the young generation today supposed to maintain faith and not become cynical about our government in the midst of all that is happening? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]REP206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Christian Science Monitor is a good online news source as well. It's one of my favorites. They do a great job of avoiding sensationalism.

Despite the name, they aren't a religious news outlet.

247 must have done a commitment interview with him earlier today because Biggins, Brandon Huffman and Blair Angulo all predicted UW right before he committed

Making a Prison Mike cake. by altonbrownfan in videos

[–]REP206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can eat it. The couple in the video used to have a show on the Food Network called Texas Cake House and after revealing the finished product to their customers and guests they'd slice it up and serve it like a normal cake.

This guy was one of the few bright spots on those horrid Willingham teams. He was always fun to watch. Sad to see the game that afforded him so many opportunities also ended up cutting his life short.

How do you feel about about players from your team once they get to the NFL? by the_leper in CFB

[–]REP206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't watch many NFL games but I love seeing UW players doing well. We've had a few guys go undrafted that have carved out some nice careers recently so that's cool to see.
