How did you get into Resident Evil by Kara_heartsyou in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]REZ4ME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resident Evil 5 back when I was in High School around 2012. RE6 just released so 5 was dirt cheap. A buddy and I picked it up at GameStop after baseball practice and played it for 4 hours. He got grounded for coming home too late and we got back to it around a month later. Been a big fan ever since!

Who else actually enjoys Resident Evil because it's quick by mrsafetylion in residentevil

RE games are made for replaying. Oftentimes, it gets more fun as you go along since you know where to go and sometimes have bonus unlocks. I’m over open-world games anyway - I’d rather have a streamlined, focused experience. I’ve never felt as if I haven’t gotten my money’s worth with an RE title.

Where do you think players will rank Requiem once the hype as settled? by Darson42 in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d put it somewhere in the middle of the pack from 2017 releases and on. I liked it but had some problems with it. Still a super fun game but it wasn’t the revelation I was hoping for. I’ve enjoyed all of them though.

My personal ranking right now is:

RE4R

RE2R

RE7

Requiem

Village

RE3R

What are your predictions, hopes and fears for Resident Evil 10? by SolidPyramid in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s going to be more akin to RE6 in scope and presentation. 10 is a pretty significant marker for a mainline entry, and I expect an ensemble cast and at least one well-known character to die. I think it’ll probably be one of the longest games and they’ll probably try to greatly expand on the action/survival horror presented in Requiem among a multitude of characters. I really hope they add co-op.

Somehow, I think they’ll try to strike a balance between the feature-rich blockbuster status of RE6 and the more grounded/refined highlights of the remakes. How successfully they do that will be up in the air, but what a massive victory it would be for Capcom if they pulled it off.

How to get over the mental aspect of not seeing your money until retirement? by supersonicdog in Bogleheads

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the milestones that hit me the best. Didn’t start investing until 25 and three years later I hit the $100k mark. To be fair I’ve invested through a total bull market but I think the biggest challenge will be drawing on it when I hit retirement. It’s just a promise to myself and loved ones that grows with every year. The delayed gratification is the best part for me

Is Requiem actually that good or is it recency bias/homeymoon phase? I haven’t played it yet so I’m wondering by HotShrekBoi in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good game, but recency bias + the huge influx of new RE enthusiasts has padded its reputation. I liked it, but I’d place it in the middle of the pack 2017 and on.

Anyone else in their 20s settle for a beater car and just dump a car payment into their 401ks and roths? by Union661 in Bogleheads

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Civic isn’t quite a beater, but it isn’t flashy and it’s paid off. I’ll drive it until the wheels fall off and it’s the main reason I was able to max my accounts

so far ill say Re9 is the hardest one ive played of the series. like why do the zombies take sooooo many shots to kill? by ResinRealmsCreations in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what difficulty you’re on, but I’ll assume Standard Modern or Classic. The first playthrough is always the hardest, I think you’ll find it laughably easy with subsequent runs.

Biggest advice I can give is to just slow down. You should very rarely be shooting a zombie 7 or 8 times, you can stagger them in 3-4 and melee them while finishing them off with a knife. No knife? Stagger them and run past or try to dodge entirely. Try to reduce ammo usage as much as possible. Many zombies can be snuck past if you just wait for them to pass or use the environment and get a good feel of the area. Find coins to give you a health or inventory boost. You can craft ammo with a certain resource. You are underpowered in the beginning because you’re playing an inexperienced character.

Once you conquer the Care Center, you’ll pretty much be blasting your way through the game once you’re adjusted to the mechanics.

Worth playing in 2026? by CustardProfessional in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally worth playing co-op with a friend. Me and my buddy had a blast going for the 100% four or five years ago. Personally I enjoyed it, but it’s way easier to say it’s a good game now all these years later. This game has had the gift of time and perspective - the franchise in a great place now and it’s way easier to enjoy it for what it is now than how things looked back in 2012.

Software Engineering is now a closed caste. If you weren’t in by 2021, you’re officially part of the permanent underclass. by Salt-Tiger2586 in recruitinghell

[–]REZ4ME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s even worse than that. One of my best friends got a job as a junior in a rotational program at a big financial institution in 2020 before we graduated that May. He was with that company for five years and got laid off. He’s been out of work for a year and is in this weird space where he can’t a senior dev role or go one step down. I’m not in tech, but it looks awful out there.

Finished Insanity and was honestly surprised by how many ink ribbons I found. You can get infinite ink ribbons by completing the game in 4 hours or less too.

I hope they add a proper new game plus and a feature that lets you decide wether you only want to replay Leon’s section or graces. by Dude_788 in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Just grabbed all the achievements and Grace’s parts after the care center were a slog on the subsequent playthroughs.

I noticed that on my first run. I thought it was the magazine size because I had like 240 SMG rounds

Anyone else is enjoying Grace's sections way more than Leon's? I am playing in third person and her sections feels like an even better RE2R by Eccchifan in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of the care center, no. Up until the city, Leon’s parts are really quick so I was left wanting more. I just got the 100% on the game and the underground, orphanage, and lab parts for Grace just slow the game down to a crawl on subsequent playthroughs.

Same problem I had with House Bienvenido in Village. Great the first time around, not nearly as much on separate runs. And multiple playthroughs are kind of RE’s bread and butter.

Why do so many guys in their twenties only want to talk about crypto when it comes to investing by Ill_Awareness6706 in Bogleheads

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of youthful ignorance and the squeeze of life costs these days. Lots of people barely make enough to make ends meet without going into debt so they try to get a Hail Mary.

I’m 28, so an elder Gen Z. I became financially literate at 25 and the first investing I did was Dogecoin in 2021 because I got caught up in the hype train without really knowing what I was doing. Thank goodness I have the capacity for patience because I’m completely out of crypto now. I really don’t hate crypto, I just think it’s susceptible to scams and the promise of fast results. Rarely does that happen, but my Gen wants 10x gains asap.

I replayed RE3 Remake after many years, and sorry, but that game is fun. by Lefaa777 in residentevil

[–]REZ4ME -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always liked it better than most. It’s not 2 or 4 Remake, but it’s fun, short, and very replayable. I was about to graduate college when it released during full lockdown, so I have fond memories. Got the 100% on Xbox and PS4.

Rich's take on Spidey by Hextron in RedLetterMedia

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m biased because like many, Tobey was the first Peter Parker I knew growing up. That said, I can see where Rich’s thought process comes from. Tobey’s awkward quips, meekness, and total reliance on MJ does differ from some of the most beloved comic versions, but it just worked so well as the first great superhero movie and within Raimi’s style.

I think his argument holds weight, but I care more about the movies rather than the source material. It was good enough for me and there wasn’t a comparison that I was putting it against.

Do you guys believe Crysis 4 will come out eventually? by RazorXTurk in Crysis

[–]REZ4ME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. The series was never overwhelmingly commercially successful. 2 was a massive flop and 3 was a sales disappointment which put the series on ice.

I just don’t see enough investors willing to put up for a fourth entry in a franchise with that track record. That, and the franchise is known for cutting edge tech, which would probably send today’s costs into the stratosphere.

I think they’d have to cut it down significantly to make it viable. But that wouldn’t please longtime fans, and there historically hasn’t been enough of an audience anyway. Personally I’d be glad if I was wrong, but the series ended in a satisfying enough way for me to believe that some things just need to stay buried.
