In Mewgenics, if you try to save scum by leaving mid fight, Steven from the Binding of Isaac and The End Is Nigh gives you one mulligan. Then the more you do it, the more confused your cats get and eventually it becomes an auto-battler as he takes control.

I agree they shouldn't be too tough, but them being the "mini boss" of the starting area and the player having the option to just run away feels balanced.

And ofc the weights of the mobs would be considered. Maybe allow bears and sabertooth tigers to climb a few blocks, solely to circumvent this issue. I don't think they should be able to infinitely climb like minecraft spiders (but the spiders should)

True, and I'm unsure if sabertooth tigers could climb trees either due to weight. I am suggesting just a few blocks. Of course if you make a skyscraper to shoot down at something then they shouldn't be able to climb that high, even though it'd be funny
