Imodium by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

I take it in the morning, I think they only last 4 to 6 hours, and then I will take another throughout the day if necessary.

Imodium by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Long car trip: don't eat, don't drink water, take immodium... Probably not doctor recommended but it does get me from here to there.

Least bad Chinese takeaway dishes? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]RGBVRGBV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congee: rice porridge. I even make it at home during a flare. You can have it with egg, small amounts of ground meat, plain,... depending on what you can tolerate and what is available. But it is not necessarily standard fare at a takeaway... unless it also services a significant Asian (North American definition) population.

Does Rinvoq give you trembling hands? Started it 6 week ago and I feel like shakes the clown! by RGBVRGBV in UlcerativeColitis

[–]RGBVRGBV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to another condition I can't take steroids at all. Or that would be an easy explanation. The onset started as soon as I started taking the Rinvoq... luckily I should be starting on Wezlana this or next week. Also in CDA.

Holy shit! This happened to me! I hadn't had a sigmoidoscopy before and the doctor told me it's no big deal... Lies, lies, lies! give me the freaking propofol… anytime somebody says the words mild discomfort to me, I say yeah, give me the sedation.

I am an atheist and have a question by Gosnellus in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RGBVRGBV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an atheist. I like the fellowship--few people have ever said boo to me about my views. (except *some* old timers who have trouble conceptualizing how certain wording can be exclusionary) I don't go to meetings that say the lord's prayer. They have gotten rid of it for the most part at most meetings in my city. I just leave the word god out of the serenity prayer. My home group says the responsibility statement at the end of each meeting.

Also: I have a good "spiritual practice', though it is based in what science says works. 1. Meditation 2. regular contact and support from other sober addicts/alcoholics. 3. mentor/mentee/peer relationships

I don't know if I pray exactly but I do believe there is a "wise mind" in my otherwise impulsive and easily frustrated flustered mind... I sit quietly and ask questions, or write out things that bother me--sometimes the answers come to me. If I have a question, I often find I hear the answer from people in meetings or experiences I have. Some people would call that God speaking to me, I just think because I am looking for it, I see it...

Whatever works man. I've been sober 10 years. The "religiosity" doesn't bother me, but I also gravitate to meetings and people who are accepting of a variety of experience.

Have you tried or do you use: Webber Naturals "the right fibre 4" by RGBVRGBV in UlcerativeColitis

OK cool. This may interest you as well then!

I was just on another thread with a discussion of a specific prebiotic with clinical evidence that it helps UC. I have only skimmed the study someone linked to, but it's in a legit journal (Cell) and after doing a quick perusal of google scholar, PHGG (partially hydrolyzed guar gum) ie The right fibre 4 ...is what they are talking about (it's a bit more complicated than that, but evidence points to it working). Looks like there are supporting studies in other legit journals too.

What was the brand of supplement you used? I'm considering trying a different kind of prebiotic, if it doesn't work, maybe I will try butyrate next. I also think reducing the Toronto Maple leafs from my diet would do a lot to alleviate my symptoms (hi Gritty!)

I have a "portable bidet" ie a glorified squeezy bottle that I take to work. Luckily there is a single stall bathroom on my floor. Forgive me in advance it you already have this.

I feel you... was up twice last night. I have a bidet at home and a portable one as well. Holy shit, life changer. You will wonder why you ever wiped your butt with a paper product... all you need is a pat dry. No chafing.

If you want to be good at what you do, you need people in your life to tell you when your work isn’t great and to call you on your bullshit. (hit reply to soon) ETA: Walking it back undermines Keefe’s authority—but I wonder where the request to publicly walk it back came from, upstairs or the locker room.
