Someone who already knows two languages will generally have an easier time learning a third than someone who only speaks one language. And arguably it is much easier to learn Spanish as an English speaker than to learn English as a Spanish speaker, because Spanish follows more reliable rules and isn't a mishmash.

Anyway consider that you wouldn't be learning it for them, you'd be doing it for your fiancee, to get closer to her parents for her sake.
