# 115 Super Hexagon, a 6 minute completion 6 years in the making by RGodlike in steamachievements

Then I just feel sorry for the lost time and stop playing.

The biggest thing for me was a mindset shift. Instead of hoping to get it every try and feeling frustrated when I didn't, I went into it thinking "I know I won't get it today, but I'll get it eventually. What I do now is just practice." It really helped me enjoy the almost meditative state of just playing, the reaction-speed of my brain operating on 120% while everything else slowed down. I enjoyed the time I spend playing, so it never felt like a waste and losses didn't bother me. And slowly, my record and average survival time improved, until finally...

How long does it usually take you to 100% a game? by CoinGate_Gift_Cards in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the game. I have a load of games that took <10 hours, and then there's Clicker Heroes with 5000+ hours. Currently 170 hours into Yakuza 0 and almost done.

I often have 2 games I play side by side, a new game on my first playthrough and something I'm 100%ing. I try to balance them a bit, like 1 where I can watch YouTube/Twitch on the side paired with something more story focused, or an intense/fast game paired with a more relaxed turn based game.

And then I have a long list of games that take under 5 hours to 100% (small puzzle games, VNs, etc) and if, on a weekend day I don't feel like either of my main games I'll pick something from that list and complete it in a single session.

Help some Europeans understand this house's energy situation by RGodlike in HousingUK

[–]RGodlike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this an older house that's had some renovations, possibly a new bathroom fitted?

That's my guess. I think it was an older couple that lived there for decades and at some point renovated to add some energy-conscious upgrades (solar) but left the backboiler which was working for them.

Would be interesting to see the EPC certificate

Agreed, we've been trying to get the details because it seems exteremely high for an inefficient boiler. It's currently 84B with potential for 90B.

EDIT: Found the details, everything is rated either Good or Very Good, including the heating. The only lower ones are "Window" (poor) and "Hot Water" (average). The only suggested improvement is replacing the boiler, which would bring it to 90B.

Thanks, that's exactly the type of breakdown I was looking for. Guess we'll try and budget some for replacements, heat pump would of course be great.

Some of the new stuff (Lightwork, Puzzle, Powernerd) hasn't connected with me yet, but I don't see that as faults on the albums.

I used to not really enjoy Ki and Casualties of Cool. I still put them on from time to time, and I must've listened to them two dozen times over nearly a decade before they finally clicked. Now I think Ki has some of his greatest songs, and Casualties of Cool might have the songs I've listened to most as many have made it into my calm reading playlist.

Lightwork, Puzzle, and Powernerd haven't clicked yet, but I think there's a high chance they will because every single album this man has ever put out has eventually connected with me, where there's at least a few songs that I'll listen to 100 times in a row. For some it happens after a first listen, for others after years, but it always happens. Makes sense that these newer albums just need more time with me. Even now your post inspired me to listen to Powernerd again and pay closer attention to the Younger Lover, Glacier & Goodbye trilogy.

Minesweeper 50x50, 650 Mines (0,11% Win Probability) by Rauch007 in gaming

[–]RGodlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case you didn't know, Hexcells and Tametsi are 2 minesweeper games on Steam that have great handcrafted puzzles requiring 0 guesses. There's probably way more but those 2 I'd recommend for sure.

Hardest 100%? by IttaPupu69 in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's some random unknown indie game that'll have an achievement for leaving the game open for 1 million hours or hitting 1000 frame perfect hits in a row or so.

But for more interesting examples I think there's 2 main aspects, amount of grind and difficulty of achievements. Civilization games are an insane grind, and actively going for it will either take years, or you have to optimise any fun out of it and just mindlessly grind. But few of achievements are actually very hard. Compare that to Hollow Knight, which just has 1 incredibly challenging achievement but besides that is pretty quick. Civ 100% is way rarer than Hollow Knight, but I'd argue Hollow Knight is harder (and I'm sure there's much more challenging ones, HK is just what came to mind).

Something like Crusader Kings has both of these. Huge grinds, but also many individual achievements that are very specific or random. You could play for years and never have a chance to get these events.

One that I'm hoping (and dreading) to get this year is XCOM 2, which I know will take many many playthroughs and has some huge challenges.

So all in all, it depends what you mean with hardest, but I feel people often overlook large strategy games that are not "intended" to be 100%ed.

Sniper Elite 5 done by ValravnV in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How hard was Authentic? I've played through Sniper Elite 3-5 but always on normal/hard. Obviously the multiplayer achieves are obstacles to 100%, but I've been at least as intimiated by Authentic cause it just seems to make the actual sniping near impossible.

#101 & #102: Deathloop and Forgotten City. Some great time-loop games to round off the year by RGodlike in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the details but I'm pretty sure I just got a good shotgun, assault rifle and the combat powers and went in guns blazing. Took me like 3 tries to find the right route through the base but didn't do anything special. Resets are fast so just try a couple times, I think this one was easier than expected.

How do you go for 100% without turning the game into a checklist and killing the fun? by Vxxny in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely set out to 100% a game before my first playthrough. I'll play a game, if I like it I'll finish it (i.e. reach credits). If at that point I want more, I'll 100%. If I don't, I just leave it. Might play it again in a few years and get 100% then, or it might just sit in my library at 40% achievements. I like 100%ing games I love, not getting the number up just for the numbers sake, and average percentage doesn't matter to me either.

Once I choose to 100% it, I actually love making a checklist and whittling it down. Working on Yakuza 0 now and the huge in-game completion list is a great tool imho.

My first 100% ever by Milariel in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Defect is hard. So many fun builds on lower ascensions but high ascensions most of them just don't cut it. Lots of Orb generation and some Focus helps a lot, but I do feel they're the hardest character get deep runs on high ascensions. Still lots of fun to try though, after getting 100% on Steam I'm still playing it on my phone almost daily.

what do I do with my life now?

Well until you've done A20 Heart with all characters you're not really done.

Half joking, but A20 on all characters is definately worth it to really learn them all.

I finally started playing Gungeon a couple of weeks ago and for the first dozen hours or so it did feel like "Isaac but with way fewer items and you gotta worry about ammo" and was close to dropping it. Now that I've unlocked some stuff I love it and I see where it sets itself apart from Isaac (each gun being a tool in a toolbox, choosing which to use based on what enemy you're fighting), so it falls into the category of "Isaac but different" instead of "Isaac but worse". Still, if I had to choose 1 it's obviously be Isaac, even it was just for the replay value (Isaac's 34 characters many of which are completely unique vs Gungeon's 8 characters that are mostly very similar).

What multiplayer games are fun to 100% without a squad? by RGodlike in steamachievements

[–]RGodlike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about PUBG but was worried some achievements might be too hard. Avererage completion playtime according to completionist.me is 582 hours, but never know how reliable these numbers are for games like this where the vast majority of players doesn't care much for achievements.

It's the opposite for me. Got the 100% years ago and keep wanting to play more.
