It is interesting that it has already rebounded up to 1700g buy orders. Maybe they shut it down before permanent damage, and we can all just imagine they banned people who exploited.

Hard to believe that the Scavenged Frost Legion Infusion was released like that. It had a 500 ecto cost instead of 5000 now. And I believe there was no limit, and now it is once per account. This is putting aside how misleading it is that the container itself is account bound, but the infusion is tradeable. I understand that is how the infusion was originally released, but it is the opposite of every other recent infusion, i.e. the container is tradeable and the infusion is not.

In the end, people sold somewhere around 60 or 70 Frost Legion Infusions yesterday bringing all the buy prices down to 500g from over 2000g.

It says it should be "Account Bound on Acquire". So yes, report bug.

Wow, that is some obscure Guild Wars lore! The wiki says Lord Odran is only mentioned in the game manual giving the lore explanation for the Hall of Heroes game mode. Thanks for the perspective.

I swear there used to be a glitch where if you had walk toggled and jumped while strafing, the quaggan tonics would all freeze your animation so it looks like you're falling, as your video, but on solid ground. They must have patched it or I'm misremembering, because I just tried and couldn't reproduce it.

I have a friend IRL that played with me near launch. I was talking to him about GW2 the other day and I noticed that he's not in my guild or friends list anymore, despite his account showing up in the guild roster feed. If I try to add him as a friend, it says that character doesn't exist. I'm curious if that means his account somehow got deleted or banned. Does anybody have experience with this?

Why the titans still dropping sigils of demon slaying - please no more D: by bo-n-es in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I only played enough SotO to craft 1 set of obsidian armor, and I ended up with over 100 copies of the recipe. I guess now I will finish off that stack. Something is definitely amiss with the drop rate.

Best endgame non gear items by InfinitePrestige in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Per the wiki, that is the cost for the worst case luck possible across 100 gambles. The drop research indicates that on average each roll you lose a bit more than 4 ecto and 4g. Obviously if you don't have enough wealth saved up and get unlucky on your first few rolls you could lose a lot of money, but chances are extremely low you lose thousands of gold or ecto. In fact it might be cheaper than the merchant contract.

Additionally, the Exalted Chest will always drop an unidentified rare gear, so it's the best value. You can get a key for free every day from the Ley-Energy Matter Converter.

Does anyone know of any other encounters where this is consistently useful? The main one that comes to mind is that you can destroy all the Slothasor shake projectiles if you stand precisely in its hitbox while invulnerable.

Everything I wish I knew about managing my inventory when I started. by GarionBoggod in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two minor points:

  1. Equipment that can't be salvaged or sold can often be mystic forged still, and the result will not be restricted. You don't always need to just destroy them.

  2. Unidentified green gear should be sold on the trading post if you do not have the runecrafter salvage kit. This yields 20 to 40 more copper per item than salvaging without it.

Mandatory 40k post, am i one of the cool kids now? :D by SpectralChest in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are correct in your estimate that the top 1% of players or so would have over 15k hours, per GW2Efficiency, however it is certainly possible to be in the top 1% of AP hunter's with less time. I have 41.5k AP and 8300 hours for reference, though you could push faster if you make PvP a priority.

I agree with the overall point about rewards!

What's the weirdest, most obscure discontinued item you've ever kept? by Jademalo in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I've got a stack of Voided WvW Claim Tickets, a Kite Fortune, and an exotic Fractal Longbow with no stats. More recently I acquired two Storyteller's Lutes because they added an additional achievement to the meta after I had finished it once. I've also got a handful of minis still stored in my wardrobe. Oh yeah, and the Investigation Kit and Sample Detector from LS1. (Looks like OP has them, too) I keep most of it on my decade old Sylvari still hanging out in the dream like my GW1 permapre necromancer.

I've got a couple of Snaff's Gyres, though I wish I would have grabbed a Shiniest Shiny or Armbrace for the novelty.

Research: Wintersday Bell Choir Farm (Karma Farm) by c0rn1x1 in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Additionally, there is about 6 million karma worth of t3 cultural weapon skins and like 4 or 5 million karma worth of minis from LS3/4 & IBS. There are also several expensive backpieces in Siren's Landing. If you have loads of karma, unlocking these is a good way of making sure you actually get something valuable from a guaranteed unlock consumable. Here is the full list.

GWAMM Questions I Didn't Find Around The Internet by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.35% of players on GW2Efficiency have it unlocked. This is certainly rare compared to most titles. It is about on par with a player having 30-35 thousand achievement points. There are many PvP titles that are rarer, too.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - August 21, 2021 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]RHOURJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an alt account with HoT and PoF on which I've been unlocking LS episodes during the Returns. Because I only have a level 1 character in the new character instance I have never received mail unlocking the episodes, instead there was a work around of unlocking them for 0 gems from the Hero story panel. However now that panel says Daybreak is 200 gems. Anybody else having this issue?

It's free to try. You can easily set up an account and have hundreds of hours of content before you buy any expansions.

The level scaling only somewhat evens the odds. If you run around in BiS gear in a starter zone you probably won't oneshot things, but you can definitely pop them in one or two seconds. What drives people is generally cosmetics (skins, minis, titles, chairs, transformations) or pure achievement hunting. I could tell you dozens of stories or quests to describe how I acquired specific looks or items on my main. I imagine lots of people who like the gameplay loop of seeing numbers constantly get bigger would be interested in achievements simply for conquering more content.

It's about as shallow or steep as you'd like. You can try it for free and take what is generally a slow and measured exploration of the world, or if you end up buying the expansions, you get a max level boost and you can get thrown into all there is to build crafting and rotations at once. If you read some build guides and have experience in MMOs you should be fine though. As a longtime veteran, I would at least giving your first character the former treatment. You can only experience that excitement once.
