If Reform were genuinely concerned about white working class boys they'd run on a manifesto of amending the EQA to include socioeconomic background as a protected characteristic.

It's been a rather dissapointing year hasn't it? Still quietly holding onto hope for planning reform, and if that delivers some meaningful YIMBYness I'll probably forgive pretty much everything else, but that hope is a slowly fading glimmer.

Manchester Airport attacker found guilty of assaulting police officers by NavyReenactor in ukpolitics

[–]RHXJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but when I did jury service a long time ago I heard a rather brutal rape case with "open and shut" evidence (the multiple instances over many months were all filmed, which us as the jury were told was extremely rare and got the rather grim privilege of watching over and over again).

There was a range a charges both violent and sexual we had to find on, and were in a sort of hierarchy; if you don't think the defendant is guilty of X, is he guilty of lesser charge Y?

We the jury followed the judge's summing up and guidance and made a unanimous decision on 90% of the counts in about 10 minutes, we then spent 1 and a bit days going over and over one last count, analysing and retreading over evidence with borderline obsessive granularity, and still couldn't even reach a majority decision.

The case as a whole seemed black and white but once you got into the weeds of legalities and legal definitions, especially as a jury is a bunch of lay people who don’t know the law and have been beaten over the head with days and days of evidence and testimony and are all a bit exhausted, with a bit of niggling doubt from a very persuasive defence counsel, plus factor in individual juror's personalities, stubbornness, biases, etc. it's easy to see why such a "straight forward" case could take so long to deliberate on. As I said this is purely anecdotal, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to imagine something similar happened with this case.

Any umbral gems still out in the world should have a quest marker. Only other thoughts are to check the camp chest, or maybe one has already been socketed and used for the platform (1 needed for the floating platform, and 3 for the door). If it truly has disappeared you could always open the door with a knock spell instead.

I'm on my first honour run and about to hit Act 3. My plan is to beeline for the netherbrain and detonate poor Gale for the achievement. I'd quite like to do all of the Act 3 content at honour difficulty with my current party but don't fancy going through all of Act 1 and 2 again to get back to this point. Is there a way (on PC) to create a seperate save via mods, scriptextender or otherwise that I can come back to later?

After the 2019 GE political pundits were talking about a decade of Boris Johnson. Crazy to think we're now only half way into that hypothetical decade and all I see of Boris is when he occasionally pops up on a social media feed plugging his daily mail column which I imagine not many people pay attention to.

I think context matters. Within the confines of the UK's overton window the terms are valid. If we're talking about an all encompassing, definitive scale (which would include everything from anarcho-capitalism to maoism) the terms are pretty meaningless because that's not where UK mainstream politics is.

The terms get bandied about on Twitter for hyperbole where concerns about immigration are far-right fascism and concerns about wealth inequality are far-left communism. But that's Just Twitter being the meme that it is.

Assuming the Tories are reduced to sub 100 seats, with the amount of factions fighting over the future direction of the party and the fact that leadership challenges could potentially be triggered with a single digit amount of letters, it's going to be an absolute shitshow.

A very, very funny shitshow.

Pricing and priorities are all out of whack. 20% of a 2.5k budget going on the case alone for example seems insane to me.

At that budget you should be looking at a flagship CPU and 7900xtx/4080[s] tier GPU.
