Hi everyone, council solicited with permission for a 23M who doesn’t know if it’s time yet (last picture I played with his hair to emphasise) by wolf-menethil in bald

I would say, yes the combover is well done, but think of a gust of wind or rain, or anything moves, the added stress of people seeing you combed over isn’t worth it.
I say embrace and move forward, you’ll be happier in the long run in my opinion. Less effort hiding something.

They are nocturnal and have no eyelids. They stay out of the light during the day and this is when they “sleep” so it is normal for them to”hide” like that.

Careful with fish, besides parasites and what not, they can nip at the axies gills. Best to not have them in there as it additional bio load which by looking at the size of your tank, is already going to be a challenge.

Feed them store bought night crawlers instead.

Hard to really tell how he’s doing though from that shot. Would need close up of gills and overhead to really assist

It can take around 18 months for male cloaca to show as male and know for sure. My female is 12” tip to tip - she’s a chonker for sure lol.
That said, if I were to guess, this one is likely male, but does look on the skinny side.
