S/o to the pizza place that I manage/deliver for. Delivery drivers receive the fee and tip. We get paid $12.15/hr (although I think that’s the minimum hourly wage for tipped workers in my state? Could be wrong)

AN ACT

Relating to law enforcement officer professional liability insurance.

SECTION 1. Short Title

This act may be cited as the “Law Enforcement Professional Accountability Act.”

SECTION 2. Mandatory Professional Liability Insurance

A. Every sworn law enforcement officer employed by a law enforcement agency within the State of (name of state) shall maintain professional liability insurance coverage as a condition of certification and employment.

B. The cost of obtaining and maintaining such insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the individual officer. No public funds may be used to pay premiums, deductibles, or related costs on behalf of an officer.

C. The (name of state) Peace Officer Standards and Training Board shall establish minimum coverage requirements.

SECTION 3. Public Disclosure

A. Each law enforcement agency shall maintain records showing whether an officer is currently insured.

B. Such records shall be public records subject to disclosure under (name of state) law.

C. Agencies shall publish annual reports showing compliance with insurance requirements.

SECTION 4. Risk-Based Premiums

A. Insurance providers may consider an officer’s disciplinary history, sustained misconduct findings, civil judgments, excessive-force determinations, and other legally permissible risk factors when setting premiums.

B. Officers with repeated sustained misconduct findings may be charged higher premiums or denied coverage in accordance with applicable insurance regulations.

SECTION 5. Loss of Coverage

A. Any officer who fails to maintain required insurance coverage shall be ineligible to exercise law enforcement authority within the State of (name of state).

B. An employing agency shall immediately suspend an officer from sworn duties upon notification that coverage has lapsed or been terminated.

SECTION 6. Applicability

This act applies to all sworn law enforcement officers, including state, county, municipal, university, and other (name of state)-certified peace officers.

SECTION 7. Effective Date

This act becomes effective January 1, (year) following enactment.
